Frostkit stood up proudly. She was going to become an apprentice!

"Frostkit have reached the age of six moons, and is ready to become an apprentice. From this moment on, she will be known as Frostpaw," Silverstar announced, pausing for a heartbeat to look for a mentor.

"Timberclaw, you are a warrior of patience and fighting skills. Pass these onto Frostpaw."

Timberclaw stepped forward to touch noses with his new apprentice. Frostpaw touched her nose to his and mewed, "I will be good!"

"I'm sure you will," he mewed as the Clan yowled, "Frostpaw! Frostpaw!"

Although Honeyfrost wasn't her real mother, she glanced at Frostpaw with the same look of pride she had given to her real kits.

What's my mother's name anyway? the question suddenly struck her. Why Hailfall never mention it to me?

"Come, I am going to show you the territory," Timberclaw mewed to her, breaking her current thoughts.

"Okay," Frostpaw mewed, still confused by her question.

Timberclaw led her into ThunderClan territory. Frostpaw recognised some of it from the trip she had with Hailfall as a kit.

"We will head towards the Owl Tree first," he mewed.

When they reached there, Frostpaw stared at the Owl Tree. "I don't see any owls," she commented.

"Because they come out at night, mousebrain," Timberclaw mewed in an irritated voice. "Don't you know?"

"I don't," Frostpaw bent her head in embarrassment.

"Good," Timberclaw mewed. "Now is the time for you to learn. Being an apprentice is more of learning than maintaining, remember that."

"Okay," Frostpaw replied brightly.

"Owls come out at night to hunt for prey," he began to explain. "They sleep in the day, only StarClan knows why, so they don't disturb us."

"That's weird," Frostpaw mewed.

Timberclaw gave her a cult nod and continued, "Now, we shall head towards Sunningrocks. Today might not have enough time to travel everywhere, so we might have to tour the next day as well. It would do good to harden your pads though."

Frostpaw lifted up her paw to inspect it. It was slightly harder than it was when she was a kit, and she was proud of it.

"If your paw is bleeding or something, be sure to tell me," Timberclaw advised, "don't hide your injuries, it will only make it worse. If I am not nearby, go to Stagwind or Sunstream immediately."

Frostpaw nodded.

"Shall we finish this tour quickly?" Timberclaw purred. "I need a mouse."

After the tour, Frostpaw had shared a mouse with Poolpaw and went to her den to sleep.

When she woke up, she was surprised that the sky was still dark. She padded out of her den, only to see a cat siting in the middle, waiting expectingly.

"Who are you?" Frostpaw called out, her voice as feeble as a kit.

"Come here," the cat mewed, ignoring her question.

Frostpaw stepped forward hesitantly. As she came closer to the blueish gray pelt, the she-cat let out a welcoming purr.

"This is StarClan, young one."

"How did I get here?" Frostpaw asked, feeling her fear rising up. "Am I... dead or something?"

"No," the she-cat mewed. "It's not your time yet. You are called here for a reason."

"What reason?" she asked anxiously.

The she-cat stood up and gestured for her to follow.

"It's better to show it," she admitted, as they walked past places that were strange to Frostpaw.

They past by a gray tom, who looked very faint unlike the blueish gray she-cat. The tom nodded in acknowledgement.

"I know you have many questions," the she-cat mewed as Frostpaw began to ask. "But you will know the answers soon."

Finally, they arrived at a pool. It showed not only ThunderClan territory, but other Clan territory.

"Wow!" Frostpaw gasped. "It's so big!"

"Look into it," the she-cat instructed.

Frostpaw looked into the pool. The calm surface blurred and showed Fourtrees, which Hailfall had told her a bit about.

It was full of fighting cats. Unrecognisable cats nearly covered the entire Gathering groud. She could hardly see any of her Clanmates. For a moment, she caught a glimpse of Icetail's white pelt in the brawl, but it was too quick and many cats have white pelts.

The scene in the pool fadded away, once again showing the peaceful calmness of the territories.

"What was that?" Frostpaw mewed, afraid.

The she-cat took a deep breath. "It's the future, part of it," she replied. "Only you can determine its outcome."

"Me?" Frostpaw mewed in bewilderment.

"Yes, you," the she-cat replied. "You may not think you are special, but every cat is special, in their own ways. Like many others before you, you have a different destiny than most of your Clanmates."

Frostpaw was too speechless to speak.

"Now you wish to know who am I?" the she-cat asked kindly.

Frostpaw nodded numbly.

"I am Bluewish, your mother."
