"My name is Frostpaw," Frostpaw mewed. Sofie smiled at her and mewed, "You must be one of the Clan cats."
"Yes I am," Frostpaw mewed with pride. "I am from ThunderClan."
"Are there other Clans?" she asked, gesturing for Frostpaw to sit down.
Frostpaw nodded, sitting down on the hay. "The other Clans are WindClan, RiverClan and ShadowClan."
"I see," Sofie mewed. "So... why are you here?"
"Well, I need to go somewhere far away," she replied, and then she added hopefully, "Do you know the way to the lake?"
To her relief and surprise, Sofie jumped to her paws, smiling. "Of course!" she mewed excitedly. "I was borned there as a kit. Although I can't remember all the details, I can still lead the way."
"Really?" Frostpaw mewed. I can't believe my luck! Thank StarClan.
"Yes," Sofie confirmed. "But you look tired."
Frostpaw sighed in disappointment. She will have to start it the next day at that rate.She spotted a nearby mouse. I will have a piece of prey before sleeping.
Remembering her training, she dropped into a crouch. Frostpaw pounced and caught it.
"Nice catch!" Sofie called out to her.
Frostpaw gave her a half anxious, half relieved smile. I am not going on this journey alone.
~~~~
Frostpaw was startled awake by a strange, piercing sound. "What was that?" she asked, rubbing her ears wondering if she could still hear.
"It's a rooster," Sofie replied, padding towards her. "It would always let out its terrible sound at this timing."
Since you look more awake now, why don't we get going?" she suggested.
"Maybe..." Frostpaw mewed uncertainly.
"Yes or no?" Sofie asked.
"Yes?" she mewed hesitantly.
"Then let's go!" Sofie mewed cheerfully, bouncing off and stopping for a moment. "Are you coming?"
Frostpaw nodded reluctantly, racing after Sofie.
The loner led her outside the barn. "Can we stop for a heartbeat?" Frostpaw asked. "I want to see the Clans before I go."
"Of course," she smiled.
Frostpaw looked at WindClan territory first. Dim sunlight shone on the huge moorland and she could see a few cats that probably made up the dawn patrol.
Further ahead, Frostpaw strained her eyes to see cats in ShadowClan territory. She frowned as she couldn't see any dots on the mucky and dark territory.
When she turned to look at the border ThunderClan had with RiverClan, she could have sworn she saw Timberclaw, but she was too far away to confirm it.
"Are you ready to go?" Sofie asked.
"Yes," Frostpaw tore her gaze away from the territories. "Let's go."
She followed Sofie unenthusiastically, with her tail down, while the loner was happily taking big steps, as if she was bouncing.
You need to focus on the journey.
A voice froze her in her tracks. It sounded like it was in Frostpaw's head or something.
Who are you? Frostpaw thought.
There was silence.
I am a StarClan cat. I'm here to guide you.
Isn't having Sofie to help enough? Frostpaw wondered in slight suspicion.
Sofie is smart, but what if you meet a group of rogues and both of you are trapped?
What do you mean? she blinked as Sofie realised she was lagging behind.
"Come on!" she called out.
"In a heartbeat or so!" Frostpaw called back.
I can help fight them.
I thought StarClan cats aren't allowed to do that.
I am allowed to do that.
Fine. Frostpaw gave a sigh and rushed to Sofie's side.
"Have you crossed a Thunderpath before?" she asked. The apprentice shook her head.
"It's simple," Sofie mewed. "Wait until you are sure that no monsters are coming, then you dash across the Thunderpath."
"Okay," Frostpaw mewed as she wrinkled her nose at the stench.
"When I say go, then you go," she mewed more seriously.
Frostpaw nodded and narrowed her eyes in focus.
"Go!" Sofie yowled, speeding across the Thunderpath.
Putting on a brust of speed, Frostpaw dashed across the stinky black path. She gasped in relief as she had made it to the other end safely.
"How many Thunderpaths are we going to cross?" Frostpaw asked, gasping for breath to steady her heartbeat.
"I don't know," Sofie replied. "We are only getting started."
A/N: Sorry for not updating sooner. :/ Journeys are hard to write but I'll try my best :)
P.S. Who do you think is that StarClan cat? Should that cat even be a StarClan cat? *coughs*
