"Hush!" a voice snapped at a chattering kit. "She would hear us!"
"I heard you already, Lightningkit," Frostkit mewed irritably. "No need to sneak around when I can hear you loud and clear. Even worse, Blazekit is softer than you."
Lightningkit let out a frustrated growl as Blazekit smirked. "I told you!" he mewed triumphantly.
"Can you two toms keep quiet?" Poolkit asked, trying not to sound angry. "I need to sleep."
Lightningkit ignored her while Blazekit apologised, with a guilty look on his face.
Frostkit sighed. Lightningkit, Blazekit and Poolkit were in Honeyfrost's second litter, as she was told.
She remembered that the queen that mentioned that Lightningkit reminded her of her littermate, Rockpelt, who died in a battle nine moons ago.
Hailfall came into the nursery, smiling at Frostkit. "Come and try this prey," he invited as Honeyfrost went to usher her kits away.
Frostkit took a small, hesitant bite of the mouse. She found it hard to chew as her teeth were not used to chewing.
"It's like that when you try prey for the first time," Hailfall explained. "But it will get better. Come, finish this mouse and I will bring you out for a brief walk. And don't waste the prey."
Frostkit finished the mouse quickly and padded out of the nursery. A light breeze ruffled her fur and it fuffled up. A cream tom laughed, not unkindly, and went to flattened her fur.
"Patchheart, you laughed at me again," Frostkit grumbled as he dropped her gently.
"It's important to find humour wherever possible," he purred.
Frostkit nodded while Hailfall began to walk towards her.
When he reached her side, he mewed, "I needed to talk to Silverstar for a moment, I apologise to keep you waiting."
"It's okay," Frostkit mewed in slight confusion. Why does he sound so formal all of a sudden?
Hailfall smiled, as if to cover his troubles. Frostkit opened her mouth to say something, but decided against it.
Instead she padded after Hailfall, who was reaching the camp entrance.
"Stay close to me," he mewed.
Frostkit nodded and walked beside him, where he could see her.
"This is amazing!" she gasped.
The trees of the forest stood tall and firm on the thick trunks, and the leaves were lush green.
"This is only part of it," Hailfall purred.
"Really?" Frostkit mewed. The forest is bigger?
"I will show you Sunningrocks," he mewed.
He led her past some bushes and trees, and the kit saw a couple of stones on a land close to the water.Frostkit jumped onto one of it, and involuntarily flinched when she felt the warm stone.
"Nice!" she mewed excitedly. 'It's a bit warm though."
"It's greenleaf, that's why," Hailfall answered. "The sun will be warmer."
Frostkit lay down on the stone, relaxing as she spotted some fishes. Their silvery scales shone in the sunlight and Frostkit dipped her paw into the river to catch it.
She grumbled in frustration as she missed. Hailfall was watching her with a frown. "ThunderClan don't hunt for fish," he commented.
"But I want to try catching one," Frostkit insisted, dipping her paw deeper. Suddenly, her weight seemed to lean on the river's side, and she fell in.
Hailfall lunged forward to grab her but he missed. Frostkit yowled in fear as she was washed further down the river.
When she opened her mouth to speak, water rushed into it, and she tried to spit it out.
Luckily, a tom grabbed her before she hit the stepping stones. "Got you," the tom mewed.
Hailfall had reached to that side of the river, and when he saw that Frostkit was safe, he sighed in relief.
But he tensed his muscles if the tom was going to harm her. "Breezestar, I would like my kit returned to me," he mewed cultly.
"Of course," Breezestar replied. "I won't steal or harm your kit."
Frostkit felt water rushing at her paws as Breezestar swam across and dropped her at Hailfall's paws.
Hailfall wrapped his tail around her protectively as he mewed, "Thank you."
"You are welcome," Breezestar replied, blinking as though he didn't believe that Hailfall was sincere.
The RiverClan leader swam back into his own territory and disappeared behind some bushes.
"Why are you so rude to him?" Frostkit asked as Hailfall carried her back.
He settled her down and mewed, "I'm not being rude, it's just that I should be the one who will rescue you."
Frostkit frowned, unsatisfied with his answer but didn't complain as they went back to camp.

When Lightningkit found out Frostkit went out of camp, he began to whine. "Why can she go out?" he yowled loudly to Honeyfrost. "I am older than her!"
"Because," Honeyfrost mewed, trying not to get annoyed, "you have been disobedient."
"I am not!" Lightningkit protested.
Blazekit cuffed his littermate's ear and mewed, "Can't you remember the last time you destroyed Silverstar's nest?"
"I was reshaping it!" he retorted.
"How about the time when you stepped on Russeteyes' tail?" Blazekit's voice was sounded challenging.
"Kits, stop fighting," Honeyfrost interupted their argument. "Lightningkit, go back to your nest and stay there. Blazekit, you too. I expect better behavior from a four moon old kit."
Frostkit had watched the entire situation and she wrinkled her nose in confusion. Why did Hailfall bring me outside camp anyway?
------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: Lightningkit is a 'Rockpelt V2' :). Frostkit is going to be like me, all my characteristics and all that. Apparently, Blazekit likes to argue...
But anyways, Hailfall will become more stranger every chapter... because he has a sickness that can't really be cured.
