Gencha remembers something his mom said long ago. Gencha was roughly...seven years old.
“Mom...why don't we visit grandpa?” Gencha asks, peeking over the counter while his mom cooks
Kucha looks down at Gencha with a serious face, “Your grandpa…..is a strange man.”
“How so?” Gencha asks, tilting his head.
Kucha steps away from the food and leans on the counter. She tilts her head back and looks at the ceiling, “Grandpa and I….don't agree on a lot of things. So we choose not to see each other.”
Gencha looks at a shelf in their home. It has a picture of Gencha's Grandpa, Master Roshi, and Kucha posing. Kucha is much younger in the photo. Gencha grabs the picture and shows Kucha, “Is that Grandpa?”
Kucha grabs the picture frame and looks at it, “No, that's the Turtle Hermit. His name is Master Roshi. He taught me everything I know about Martial Arts.”
“Who's the man on the left? Is that grandpa?” Gencha says
Kucha sighs, “Yes, that's my father. Your grandpa. He's even stronger than the Turtle Hermit.”
Gencha looks at the picture in amazement and wonder.
Kucha, however, looks at the picture with discontentment.
Gencha wakes up, it's raining. He quickly gets up. He's not in the same place he was when he fell unconscious. There are mushrooms everywhere. Still in the forest, but many mushrooms.
Gencha looks around, confused, “Wh-Where am I?”
Pillu peeks out from behind a Mushroom. Her face lights up with a smile, “Gencha! You're awake!”
Gencha smiles, “Pillu!”
Pillu quickly tries to fly out and towards Gencha. Her flying is wobbly and unrhythmic. But out of nowhere, three fairies fly in front of her and push her back.
“H-Huh? Hey! Pillu!” Gencha says, trying to get up
“Please excuse her. She needs time to recover.” A fairy says, flying up to Gencha
Gencha looks at the fairy, confused, “H-Huh?
The fairy has green hair and a green dress. She smiles, “My name is Mattra. I will be your caretaker.”
Gencha continues to look on in confusion, “Wh-What? What do you mean?”
“I am the fairy taking care of you.” Mattra says
“That's not what I mean. I mean, why are you taking care of me?” Gencha asks
“Some of our fairies detected the pheromones from Pillu. We could tell someone was in distress. We found you and carried you here.” Mattra says
Gencha looks around and sees a house shaped like a mushroom. He points to it, “What's that?”
“That is the home of the Toad Hermit. He watches over us.” Mattra says
“The Toad Hermit?” Gencha asks
“Yes, he is a great, strong Martial Arts Master. He wishes to see you.” Mattra says
“M-Me?” Gencha says
Mattra nods
Gencha hesitates before he begins walking to the shack. He opens the door, steps in, and closes it.
The room is very dark, with smoke coming from a pan in front of the Toad Hermit.
The Toad Hermit sits with his legs crossed, facing with his back to Gencha, “You're a hard person to find.”
