When He Went After The Person He Loves - Jimin (BTS) x Reader Oneshot

Sitting on a wooden bench along the paved wide path of the beautiful park, you smiled to yourself and thought, Love... Am I even worth it? Soon, the memories from the past came flashing back. Oh, how you wish you could turn back the time and redo everything. But this time, you'll make sure to not lose everything, especially him.

Flashback – Five Years Ago.

"Jimin-ah," you held his hand, never wanting to let it go. Tears were now rolling down your cheeks. You never felt like this before – losing someone so dear to you.

"I'm so sorry Y/N," he gently pushed your hand away and looked directly into your eyes. His soft gaze melted your heart. However, you knew that the way he looked at you meant nothing more than how a best friend takes care of his dearest friend.

"I don't love you. It's Anna that I have and will always love," the blond-haired guy added. He tried to deliver the words in a way he thought will not hurt you. But little did he know, even before this scene, you already knew that his heart already belonged to someone else. Though, you tried. You tried everything to gain his attention, to make him smile... But nothing seemed to work.

"Jimin," you sobbed as you spoke. "Why can't it be me? I have always been there for you. I got to know you first! I've come to know you first ever since we were in diapers. We've always been bes-"

"Best friends," he ended the sentence for you while your heart shattered in pieces. Right, you are only a best friend to him.

"Y/N," he continued trying to make you understand. This time, he was looking anywhere but you. "I am grateful to have found someone like you in my life. But I don't feel the same way. I want to start a new life with Anna and I'm going to Paris with her."

He took a step back after saying those words. Then everything felt like in slow motion. You watched him slowly turn his back and walk away. You fell on your knees as soon as his figure disappeared. You were now crying mess as you placed your palms to cover your face. You felt helpless and miserable. You were wishing for him to change his mind, but it didn't happen. He left without looking back.

Timeskip – Current day.

Ding! The door opened indicating a customer has entered the coffee shop. You were standing behind the counter, preparing to greet the customer. As you were about to speak up, the woman in front of you spoke, "I would like to have two iced americanos. To-go please."

You were surprised to see her standing in front of you. The woman whom the man you love chose to be with.

"Y/N?" She looked surprised just like you. Her cheery voice and easygoing vibe were still there. Maybe, that's the reason why Jimin fell in love with her.

"How are you?! It's been years!" The woman in front of you exclaimed.

"A-Anna..."

"I would love to talk to you more but my husband is waiting outside," she pointed towards the red car parked in front of the coffee shop. Your heart raced after hearing the word, husband. You were contemplating whether to feel excited because you wanted to see Jimin even after he chose Anna because he said he loved her; Or if it should be sad. Because he got married to the woman whom you can never be.

You were scared but still followed where her index finger was pointing to. Wait, that's not...

"Yeah," Anna lowered her head, "Jimin and I aren't meant for each other."
