Author's POV

A guy in his mid-twenties was looking buff and handsome as he took one last glance in the mirror. He smiled to his reflection but it felt empty. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and saw a few notifications flooding it. One of them read, "BTS Nominated as Top Duo/Group for Billboard Music Awards 2020." Again, another smile formed his face. This time, a genuine one. He grabbed his glasses and headed to his car.

His usual routine was going to the café, then to the recording studio. A little bit of caffeine would give him the energy he needed for the rest of the day. He parked his car and made his way to the counter. "Good morning," his lips curved upwards. "One cappuccino please, and a slice of blueberry cheesecake. To go, thanks." As soon as his order was handed, he didn't waste any minute and reached for the door. Unfortunately, he accidentally bumped into someone, causing the drink to spill on the other person's shirt.

"I'm sorry. Here, you can take my jacket." He willingly offered. Just as he was about to look on the person opposite of him, the sweet voice that he was longing for spoke. "Kim Namjoon?"

"Y/N?" Shock and disbelief were painted on his face. "It's really you," the other person responded charmingly.

Flashback – Fifteen Years Ago

Y/N's POV

I always liked playing in the seesaw but I always needed someone's help to push me. That was why, I dragged my best friend Namjoon with me, even if he was busy studying.

"It won't happen again Namjoon. Just for today, please?" I gave him a shy and desperate smile.

We were already at the playground, standing near an unoccupied swing. He sighed knowing that he didn't have any other option as he was already here with me. "Okay, but if my mom finds for me. Help me give a good reason so she won't scold me."

"Agreed!" I excitedly sat on the swing in front of us and asked Namjoon to push it for me. "Namjoon?" I called-out his name. "Yes?" His tone was skeptical. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I looked up at the cotton-like puffy clouds above us. "Why did you suddenly ask?" The swing stopped as he held on to it with his huge strong hands. "Do you think we'll grow old together in this hometown?" I asked again.

He gently walked in front of me and knelt, so that he'll be on the same eye-level as I was. "Y/N," he patted my head. "I will always be right beside you. Don't worry," he gave his most reassuring smile.

Flashback – Third Year of High School

Y/N's POV

Today was the junior-senior prom. Namjoon moved to another city with his family as he was scouted by a growing entertainment company. Before he went, he promised that he will be my escort for the night. The time was ticking and I've become more impatient. I was sitting in the couch of our living room while my mom was chuckling at my pouting face.

"What?" I whined as I crossed my arms in front of me.

"Don't frown sweetie. It's does not match your stunning lavender gown," she winked before heading off to the kitchen. Just in time, I heard the doorbell rang. I was about to get it but my mom stopped me and signaled to get back to where I was sitting. "Namjoon," I heard her greeted my best friend. I could tell you she was all-smiles. She always wanted Namjoon for me. Like, to be my boyfriend. But neither Namjoon or I had thought of that. We are just friends. Or so I thought.

"Y/N," his voice trailed off the moment he walked into the living room. "Hi Namjoon," I tilted my head and smiled back at him. "Do I look hideous?" I asked innocently.
