Cadence's POV
A week passed by as if in seconds and nothing bad happened during that time. And that was the suspicious thing right? It was too good to be true. I was woken up by loud crashes, desperate screams and cries. I shot up from bed to window to see what's going on and I wasn't a bit surprised. Haylen, I mean Agony, is wreaking havoc all over city, making crowds of people watch as she kills. I ran to our living room to see my dad covered in blood and my mum tending to his wounds. "What the fuck happened?!" I screamed in horror. "Your father tried to fight her, but unsuccessfully." Mum said while still helping dad. Then another thing catches my eye. It was a Quinjet flying over our city. Avengers started to get off the flying ship trying to attack Agony. I was watching them one by one getting their asses kicked. "I have to help them!" I said urgently. "No Caddy, it's too dangerous!" dad shouted, still laying on the floor. "I'm sorry, but I have to. This might be the only way I can redeem myself." as I said that, I jumped out the window straight to the fight, already transformed into Carnage.

"Oh no, this one again." Tony Stark said, preparing to attack me. "No wait, I'm here to help you." said Carnage as I couldn't speak to them directly now. "I'm sorry what? Help us? Last time you were trying to kill us." said Tony, still not believing me. "Trust me, i want to stop this too." I jumped high to the building that Agony was now standing on. "Haylen stop, this isn't you." "Get out of my way Cadence." she said warning me. "Please, we can solve this together, just let me help you." I tried to stop her, on a verge of tears. "Go away Cade, I won't repeat myself!" "No I'm not going anywhere!" "Fine, have it your way." she pushed me down. We started fighting. As she was about to attack me again, I stopped her with my tentacles. We had a quick hand to hand combat. I hit her face and she punched me in the chest. Then she kicked me in the stomach making me fall back. She then wrapped her long symbiotic-half-liquid hair around my neck and started to choke me. "I didn't want it to end like this. I have to admit I really liked you. It's such a pity I have to kill you now." she was about to snap my neck when I collected all my remaining strength and pushed her away. "Not today Satan!" I yelled and went after her.
I finally pushed her down, straddling her. "Is this what you wanted? Look around you!" I screamed at her, already crying. "There's no way to fix this now, to fix me, it's too late..." she said simply. "No it's not, we will figure it out." "How Cadence!? There's no way for me I'm escaping prison or death after this so why give me a false hopes when we all know what's going to happen so why don't you just finish me, why don't you just kill me already?!" she yelled from under my grasp. I could see the tears forming in her eyes. I could see the pain, regret, guilt. I could see that all in her eyes. "Because we are besties, and besties don't leave each other's side remember?" I sniffed. We both now transformed back into our human form and now instead of having her in a death grip, I held her gently, both of us on the floor (well, a rooftop floor) and both of us crying silently. "Thank you..." was all she said before special SHIELD enforcement dragged her away in to some cell, leaving me there still sitting.
But then I remembered I cannot let anyone know my true identity now that I am transformed back. I started running back to my house, seeing Avengers already getting back on their jet so I was relieved and just leaned on a wall. Suddenly I was surprised by a SHIELD agent that came to me. "Great job out there, we owe you." the man with one eye said. "You would make a great addition to the team." he said now seriously looking into my eyes. "I'm sorry what?" I just blurted out. "The Avengers." he said as if it was nothing. Yea because being a Avenger is easy, actually it's a normal thing people ask you on a street "hey do you wanna be an Avenger?". "Why me tho, I don't think I'm worthy of this position." I said. "Because I've seen what you've done today, you took her out, other avengers couldn't, don't worry, you will do just fine. So pack up, be ready, tomorrow 2 of my agents will escort you to the helicarrier which will bring you to the avengers compound." with that being said he just left. He didn't give me a choice like what if I said no? Too late for that now, I think it's worth giving a shot, besides, I master some gymnastic and fighting skills so I won't entirely embarrass myself. Well, I should probably get home now, start packing and most importantly tell my parents.

When i came home, I just sighed heavily. Today's happenings were a lot and I'm still processing it all. When I looked around myself I just felt so sad to leave yet so happy for the new things I'm about to experience. I was missing this place already. My family, friends, everything. As I was in the middle of packing, my mum came in to my room. "Where are you headed to?" she asked leaning on the door. "Uh yeah, about that...I have to tell you something." I said seriously. Mum understood my facial expressions and came closer to me. "What is it?" she asked worryingly. "SHIELD spoke to me, and they want me to join the Avengers, they didn't even give me a choice, but I think I want to do it. Actually tomorrow 2 agents will come for me so don't be scared if you get to open the door." I said, impatiently waiting for my mum's reaction. "...okay, well I'm happy for you, I mean this is what you always wanted, t-to be...an agent..." she said trying to sound excited, but I knew she was faking it. "Mom if you—" she cut me short. "No it's alright, I truly am happy for you but I can't deny that I will miss you very much." she gave me a hug and we stayed like that for some time. "I will finally make you proud." I said. "You already made me proud, more than once. Just be careful out there, will ya?" she said now smiling through her tears. "That I can do." I reassured her. "And call me at least once a month. I want to know all the tea and don't even think about excluding boys." she winked at me. "Mum stop! You really do know how to ruin everything!" we both laughed. "Mum, you know how hard are goodbyes to me, so can I ask you if you could not tell dad about this? I will of course say goodbye, but it won't actually be a "goodbye". I have it already planned so..." I asked unsurely. "Ok."

The following morning Mum caught me just having breakfast. "Hi sweetie." she greeted. "Have you already done that?" she came closer and whispered. "I'm halfway. I already said unsuspected goodbye to Danny yesterday evening cuz I know that he sleeps long so otherwise we would miss. And dad well, I will mask it as a goodbye-to-work." I whispered back. "Hey, here are my favorite girls!" Dad came to kitchen and kissed us both on a cheek. "Slept well?" Mum asked as if our conversation didn't just happen. "I could say so, there were no midnight hunger attacks so." he said, biting into his donut. "Anyway I've gotta hurry, love y'all, see you!" as he was about to leave I've stopped him. "Dad wait!" he stopped in his tracks. "I just wanted to say...that I love you too" I hugged him almost on a verge of crying. "Okay uh I'll be back." he said as he let go, ready to go to work. I knew that this hug was, like, very suspicious even more that I almost cried so I almost gave myself away, but he couldn't work out what's happening so. Then the agents rang on our door. "That's my cue. I guess I better leave now." I gave mum my last hug, we both said our goodbyes and I went away flying in that jet.
