Jealousy Only Brings Harm

A.N. This is an AU of the episode "Henry's Jelly" where the guy robbing the pet store was armed and Henry just ended up getting really hurt.

Henry's POV
I arrive at the pet store. Not as a superhero. Not as Kid Danger. As myself. Henry Hart.

            I dropped into a bin of squeaky toys and quickly got out of it, trying to remain as quiet as possible, after the employee and robber went to the back.

            It didn't take long for Captain Man to show up. I screamed when he tapped my shoulder.

            "What are you doing here?!" I whisper-yelled at him.

            "Doing my job! What are you doing here?!" He whisper-yelled back.

            "Fighting crime." I whisper.

            "You're out of uniform." He whispered back so none of the hostages could hear him say that.

            The criminal came back and spotted Captain Man and I.

            He walked over to us and told us to get in the crates.

            "I think you should get in the crate." Captain Man shot back. He was standing in front of me with his arm slightly out in front of my protectively, but I just put his arm down. I don't need him to protect me.

            "Oh, really?" The villain said. Before I could process what was happening, the man grabbed my arm and pulled me next to him and put a gun against my head.

            "Get in the crate, Captain Man, or the boy gets it." The villain said.

            I could see the look of pure panic and fear on Ray's face as he gave in, "okay, okay."

            Ray crawled into the animal crate and I thought that was that. I thought the criminal was just gonna let me go and maybe put my in an animal crate myself.

            It was only when I felt an excruciating pain in my head that I realized that wasn't the case.

            I hear Ray let out a heart-wrenching, "NO!"

            I fall to the ground just seconds before everything goes dark.

Ray's POV
            "NO!" I scream as I watch my best friend get shot in the head and fall to the floor.

            "Consider that a warning, Captain Man. If you don't want that to happen to these innocent people, then you better stay in that animal crate and cooperate." The criminal walked back to the back as I stared down at my unconscious sidekick. At least, I hope he's just unconscious.

            I ignore what the criminal said and start trying to get out of the animal carrier. All that matters right now is Henry.

            It didn't take long for me to unlock the crate by using my fingers to unlock it from the inside (A.N. I did this a lot as a kid, I got into a dog cage and locked myself in it and reached my fingers through the holes in the cage to unlock it).

            I quickly ran over to Henry and checked his pulse. It's a miracle. There's still a pulse. However, it's very weak.

            I start begging the kid to stay with me and telling him that he would be okay as I called an ambulance.

            "Come on, kid." I said, knowing he couldn't hear me.

            "The ambulance is on its way! Just stay with me! Please." I could feel tears brim the corners of my eyes, but I held them in. I didn't want the hostages to see me crying over this boy I supposedly don't know. At least, they don't know that I do know him.

            "Just stay alive."

            I hear sirens approach the pet store as I continue to talk to Henry, who I knew couldn't hear me, but it was worth a try.

            "They're almost here, kid. Just a bit longer. Please. You can't do this to me."

            Paramedics and police officers rushed into the pet store and I explained to them what happened and the paramedics put Henry on a stretcher and into the back of the ambulance and the police went to the back and arrested the criminal.

            I unlocked all of the cages the hostages were in and I quickly got out of there. I felt like I was about to break down, but I couldn't break down over a boy I "don't know" in front of all the hostages.

            Once I got to my van, I finally broke down, sobbing into my hands.

            I eventually calmed down enough to drive myself back to the Man Cave.

            I arrived back to the Man Cave and was greeted by Schwoz when I came down the tube. I took out my gum tube and popped a gumball into my mouth and blew a bubble.

            "Ray...? Have you been crying?" Schwoz asked me, noticing the tear stains on my cheeks.

            "I don't wanna talk about it..." I say as I just head back to my room through my sprocket.

            I know I should be on my way to the hospital to see Henry and make sure he's okay, but I don't think I can. I don't think I can see him in the state he's in.

            Plus, it's my fault he got hurt. He probably doesn't even want to see me.

            All I can do is just go lay in bed and think about the actions that took place today and think about Henry being in the hospital right now, because of me.

            Please be okay, kid.
