Bose sits in his desk, absentmindedly listening to Ray ramble on about... something. Bose isn't really listening, but it's probably something important. Bose  starts to drift off into his own thoughts as he remembers something from his recent past.

Eleven year-old Bose sat on his couch while his parents are yelling at him. He tried to hold in tears while his father yelled at him, "you only got a C on that test?! No child of mine is going to get anything below an A! This is an outrage!" With that, Boss's father punched him and stormed off into the next room. Boss's mother looked at him with disappointment and kicked him before following his father into the next room. Bose sat there with tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

"-se. Bose!" Ray's voice snaps Bose out of his thoughts.

"What?" Bose asks, not sure what he just missed.

"Pay attention! This is important stuff!" Ray says sternly.

"Sorry." Bose says apologetically before Ray goes back to teaching.

Bose tries his best to pay attention, but he drifts off into another flashback.

Bose got to school the day after he got his test back and as he entered the school building, he realized the hallways were empty. He was late. And he didn't even realize. He went to his locker to get stuff for his first class when he felt a force pushing him up against his locker before he could open it. He growled lowly and said, "what do you want, Derek?"

"Did you do my homework, you little emo?" Derek asked aggressively.

"Yeah, here." Bose got out the homework and gave it to Derek.

"It better get an A! If not, you know what'll happen!" Derek said.

"Yeah, yeah, I know." Bose said as he rolled his eyes.

"You know, you deserve a little sneak peak." Derek said before he punched Bose in the face.

"Hey! Leave him alone!" A voice called.

Derek and Bose turned to see Bose's fellow emo friends standing there. "Ugh, more emos." Derek complained. "I don't wanna deal with more emos right now." Derek turned around and walked away.

"You okay?" One of the friends asked as she helped Bose off the floor.

            "Yeah. Thanks, Zoey." Bose said.

"Come on. We better get to class." Another friend, Jason, said.

"Yeah. Come on." The final friend, Stephanie, motioned for them to follow her into the classroom.

"Class dismissed." Ray's voice snaps Bose out of his thoughts once again. "You can't leave yet, but no more learning today."

Mika, Miles, and Chapa stay in the classroom to help Ray straighten things up, but Bose goes up to the Man's Nest and sees a piano in the middle of the room. No one else is around. He sits at the piano as he drifts off into yet another flashback.
