You and Kento shared an awkward goodbye, exchanging updated phone numbers at least. You were satisfied having seen him for the first time in so long, just knowing he still existed was good enough for you. Unfortunately, that left many open questions that ran through your head as you tried to sleep. What has he been up to all this time? Has he been with anyone else? Was it really just his distaste for the profession that caused him to quit? So many unanswered thoughts, you barely caught a wink.
The next day was another day of adjustment as your brother had yet to set up any sort of plans for you to help at the school. You had no schedule for once, no set amount of tasks needing to be completed. You had no type of plan to take care of as you usually did with Suguru. Your schedule was completely open and you felt as if you were in limbo.
You tried to go about a normal schedule: getting dressed for the day, having some breakfast at the dining hall, and heading to the library to snag a book to read. You settled at one of the bars with the book you chose, the bar itself facing the floor-to-ceiling window so you could happily look out from time to time. You were able to get a few chapters in before you were disturbed.
"They told me you came back," Naoya's familiar voice rang through your ears. You sighed and closed your book, the man no longer seeming like such a threat with your newfound power.
"Yeah, what of it?" You looked up at him lazily. He stood next to you in his traditional garb, sinister gaze looking down at where you sat. He hadn't changed much over the years you were gone.
"You understand what this means, right?" He growled, clenching his teeth tight as to hold himself back and not cause a scene.
"I figure, unfortunately," you rested your head on your hand. "No way around it, I guess." He looked as if he were about to lose his shit with the way you were speaking to him, but he knew there was nothing he could do about it in public.
"It's this Saturday," he continued to grind down his teeth, seething in your direction.
"Wow, two days. They don't even give me time to settle in," you chuckled, "I literally just moved in on campus."
"Well you'll be living with us starting Saturday evening," he sighed, trying to calm his temper as you seemed to open up to the conversation.
"Wonderful," you sighed and opened your book back up as the conversation came to a stop.
Though the talk was clearly over, he still stood there, awkwardly watching you read for a solid two minutes.
"Is there something else you needed?" You looked up at him again without moving your head. You drew your attention completely to him for a moment when you realized he was blushing.
"Father suggested I spend more time with you before the day," he cleared his throat and lost the blush, "so...spend time with me." He said more aggressively. You then folded your book one last time. He actually has a crush on me, you thought, he's glad we're getting married...
"That's unnecessary. Just tell him that you did," you shook your head, "I have no intention of getting to know you in any type of way." His jaw clenched once more with your defiance.
"Fine," he growled, reaching into the pocket of his bottoms and pulling out a flash drive. "This is the updated copy of the contract they made yesterday."
"Wow, they're quick. Mom and Dad didn't even call to say hello," you giggled, taking the device from him.
"They don't have any interest in speaking with you, just like your idiotic older brother," Naoya scoffed.
