"So the cursed spirits are confirmed? More than just one that can hold a coherent conversation?" You asked after Satoru finished his long schpiel. Kento looked like his headache had returned as he deeply rubbed his eyes.
"Yep!" He said simply and excitedly. "Also, Yaga says you and Nanami banned from school grounds." Kento gasped audibly, hand retracting from his face to grip the sofa - Satoru's phrasing nearly giving him a heart attack.
"WHAT?" You shouted into the phone.
"I'm just kidding," he chuckled, "but you're suspended from campus for at least a few weeks. He'll give Nanami a few missions but he's not allowed on school grounds. As for you, well, just enjoy some time off!"
"Seriously?" You grouched. "I miss all the action and now I'm being forced to stay at home. I don't get to see any action!" You had to admit you felt kind of worthless, hoping that the next crazy event would include you - but you somehow missed each one.
"Hey, be thankful," Satoru scolded in a joking tone though something beneath it sounded serious, "just enjoy your time with your boyfriend." You swallowed hard at the word. You two hadn't specifically decided on any of that despite the words you always exchanged. "What?" Satoru asked at your silence. "Nanami really hasn't made it official yet?! Really?!" His voice was shrill and you had to hold the phone away from your ear. Kento rolled his eyes and rested his chin on his palm, elbow on the armrest of the sofa. "Damn, I figured you two would be getting married at this point."
"Okay, goodbye!" You quickly said, feeling a ball of anxiety in your throat. You had pressed the red button without hearing Satoru's goodbye. "Nanami," you looked down at the man you were still straddling. He looked up at you and cocked his head, waiting for you to continue. "Why aren't you my boyfriend?"
"I...figured I already was," he blinked hard once. You also blinked as a response before becoming visibly (jokingly) upset.
"You have to ask me!" You begged. There truly wasn't a point and Kento was right, but, like your brother, you hated losing - and also just wanted to hear him say the words.
"Fine," he sighed loudly before settling into a smile, "Y/N, will you be my partner?"
You but your bottom lip with excitement and began quickly nodding like a crazy person. He gave a low chuckle to your response as you leaned forward and hugged his neck. His hands came up to secure your back as he suddenly stood. Your legs instinctually wrapped around his waist.
"Where we going?" You asked, muffled into his neck as you held on tight.
"To make it official," you could just hear his smile as he took you down the hall to the bedroom.
You lived your next few weeks of suspension in bliss. You primarily stayed at Kento's, ultimately taking over one of the drawers at his place.
Over time Satoru whined about how you should just move in with him seeing how serious things were getting between you both."What about this one?" You turned your laptop in Kento's direction. The two of you were apartment shopping on the sofa together, if you were going to move in you'd prefer more space.
"Where's that one?" He leaned forward to get a better look at the pictures.
"It's just down the street from the school! We'd be able to walk!" You were completely stoked of your find. "But you know what..." your mind went to retirement once more, "I heard Hokkaido is a nice, quiet place to live."
Kento was just about to speak up when your phone started ringing. Satoru's name lit up the screen and you quickly answered.
"Hey!" You answered happily, putting him on speaker phone.
