The Selfless One

He looked at her sparkling eyes for the very first time,
As she giggled and with two raised hands
Beckoned him forward;
He had his vow for life that:
No one would ever hurt her.

Ten years passed and yet he was there,
Being her protective shield
Showing carelessness even for a moment,
His thoughts were: "Every moment is precious.
Anyone can cause her harm !"

A few more years passed
And she wanted to be independent,
Flew free from all her bounds;
Taking much care always irritated her.

Teenager she, became
Starting to go through different
Stages of maturity of mind.
He wanted only positive thoughts
In her pessimistic brain.

Twenty-three now she is;
When she married and went far away,
Only said "Thank You" to the
Person who loved her selflessly.
Could tears repay his selfless deeds ?

And yet forever he loves her,
Still wants to protect her from all---
Vile and wild;
Who said in this orthodox society,
A father does not love his girl child ?
