Chapter 19: 'The L-word'

3rd Person POV:

Luz and Amity put on a Christmas movie, they thought it would be fitting. Luz had gotten comfortable and laid her head on Amity's shoulder as they laid down.

'Achoo' Amity sneezed.

"What did I tell you?" Luz joked.

"It was one sneeze," Amity defended. But one sneeze turn into two, and two turned into three, and so on until it eventually turned into a cough too.

Luz sat up, "Do you need tissues, I can get you some," She volunteered. "No, I don't need any I'm ok," Amity said. "You don't look ok," Luz said worriedly.

"Wow, thanks," Amity sarcastically said.

"No, I don't mean it like that it's just..." Luz put the back of her hand on Amity's forehead, "...Amity you're burning up,".

"Well, my throat is starting to hurt a bit," The Blight confessed. "Amity, you can't be out in this temperature with only a hoodie, it's freezing out there," Luz said, rubbing Amity's arm. "I know I'm sorry," Amity said.

"You don't have to be sorry. Here, I'm gonna get you some tissues and a cold towel to put on your head," Luz said getting up from her spot on the bed. "Thank you," Amity said. "It's the least I can do," Luz said with a smile.

Luz left the room and to the bathroom in search of her things. She could instantly spot a towel but she had to go through some drawers to find tissues.

Luz quickly wet the towel with cold water and headed back to the Blight's room. She opened the door to see Amity laying on her side, looking paler than usual. "Here, I got the tissues," Luz said, handing them to Amity. When Amity was done blowing her nose, she threw the tissue in the mini trash can next to her bed she kept. 

"Ok now, lay down on your back," Luz said, folding the towel to put on Amity's head. When Amity laid back, Luz moved some hair away and put the towel on her head. "There you go, Mi Amor," She said.

"What does that mean?" Amity asked Luz.

Luz froze for a second, "Uh nothing, it's just a pet name in Spanish," Luz half lied. She couldn't say what it meant without saying 'the word' to Amity. It was way too early in their relationship to say that.

"Well it sounds really pretty, I like it," Amity smiled, which made Luz smile as well.

"Do you have water in here or something, you need to stay hydrated so the sickness goes by faster," Luz said looking around.

"No, but we have some downstairs. You don't have to go if you don't want, I can get it myself," Amity said, starting to get up. Luz pushed her down gently, "No, you have to stay here," She said while getting up. "As your girlfriend, it is my job to take care of you in this state of discomfort," Luz said, while jokingly saluting.

Amity laughed, "You're a nerd," She said. "Yeah, but you are too," Luz said as she opened the door. "I'll be right back!" She said excitedly while leaving.

In the hall, Luz heard noises come from Emira's room but didn't think anything of it. 

She went downstairs and into the kitchen to get Amity's water and closed the fridge door. While doing this, she heard a door from around the corner open and footsteps. She guest it was Amity's dad. 

Luz bolted back upstairs and quickly to Amity's room, hoping he didn't see her.

She opened Amity's door quickly and could see her still watching the movie. "Woah, you ok?" Amity asked. Luz nodded, "Yeah, sorry I don't know why I did that," She said. "No, it's alright," Amity replied.
