. . .

The whole hospital is in chaos with all of the Doctors and nurses running around, crying people who just lost someone important to them and the other who's waiting, and hoping for a good come out.

"Ms. Kim, you are needed on OR 3" A nurse called her out which made her mom immediately break from the hug and glare at the nurse.

"My daughter just did an operation and looked after the people in the incident, can't you give her a break?" She's pissed off, she knows that her daughter must fulfill but they should know that she has her limits.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Kim, but the patient's condition is critical and we needed the best surgeon. We can't fail the operation especially because it's Mr. Choi Jiwan." Her mom's skin paled as she heard the name of the patient that made Jennie ask her immediately what's wrong but she just shrugged it off.

"Please help us, Ms. Kim." Jennie nodded and squeezed her mom's shoulder assuring her that everything will be fine.

Just in time that she's going to leave, the door burst open revealing Hanbin who's gasping for air as he made his way to the two women.

"Thank god, both of you we're fine." He said as he embrace both of them on a hug and ruffled Jennie's hair as he pull out and check them out.

"How about Mr. Kim?" He asked which her mom smiled and told him that he's doing fine now as he is already transferred to the ICU.

"Jennie--" He was about to say something like she should rest but Jennie cut him off saying that she needs to keep going for an operation. " I need to go now. Really."

"But, you should rest first you look tired." He interjected but Jennie just smiled at him before going leaving them behind.

Jennie then wear her scrubs as she entered the operating room, the sounds were disturbing as the heavy breathing of the doctors can be heard and the beeping sound of the Holter monitor could be heard in the room. Everyone turn their head on the latter and made a space for her.

"Please let's start, we can't waste time even just for a minute." The anesthesiologist said so Jennie immediately asked for the patient's details.

"The gunshot is on the right chest. It was stuck between the artery and its fatal. We can't remove the bullet because it might put his life at risk." He stated so Jennie kept on going and observed the x-ray that was taken a minute ago as she analyze what to do.

Jennie then asked for the scalpel as she open the patient's chest area putting cut tissues in the process then removing them after the blood was cleared. One of the nurses handed her the saw that made her breathe deeply before putting it in place tearing the ribs apart.

"Finochietto retractor," Jennie asked which they handed immediately as Jennie positioned the retractors to keep the ribs open for the surgery.

"Please prepare a stent," Jennie asked as most of the people inside rushed to get what they needed. The bullet is now visible in the eyes and what they should do now is to remove it.

"It's already prepared." Jennie then nodded and took the forceps. She calmed herself down as she need to remove it immediately, in just a second. They have been in the operating room for hours yet it felt like minutes.

It's already 12:54 at the midnight she should be sleeping but it seems like sleep won't visit her sooner.

Putting the forceps in place, she took the bullet and placed it on a tray together with the instrument.

"Suction." Everyone moved in a rush as Jennie continuously clear the blood that was oozing out. "graft."

Putting it tightly as it could fit in the artery, Jennie carefully stitched the graft in place as she make sure that there won't be any problem on the passageway of the blood.

"I'm going to close the ribs now." One of the surgeons stated so Jennie nodded as she's too tired to do the rest of the work. One of the nurses wiped her sweats and gave her even a bit of water as she gasp for air. It is indeed suffocating.

Everything was settled and in control, not until they heard the heart monitor dropping down that made every people in the room look back at the patient and the doctor who's figuring out what had gone wrong. Jennie's heart was beating faster as she walk through the patient examining the patient's chest area.

"What did you do?" Jennie asked the doctor who looks puzzled as he look up at her.

"I don't know, everything was secured, I made sure of it before closing the chest area." He started panicking which Jennie had understood but this is not the time to panic and be weak.

"Do CPR, while the other does a CT scan," Jennie stated as everyone move into the room that making the people outside question what's happening inside as they walk back and forth in the hallway.

Jennie then immediately went to the monitor as she gasp in shock at what she's seeing right now. A bullet was stuck near the brain stem and it's hopeless. Everyone in the room knows it as all of them froze in their places as they stared at each other in shock.

The beeping sound was heard again and the doctor looked at Jennie as if asking her if he should continue reviving which she nodded to.

A few minutes.

It didn't change so Jennie decided to take over and do CPR as the other one put on oxygen but again, it was hopeless. "Time of death, 1: 36 Am."

The anesthesiologist finally declared that made everyone stop and cover the patient's body. It was her second surgery yet it was a table death. A very terrifying experience for a doctor.

Jennie looked at the people with her who looks tired and drained after more than two hours of trying to save this man. His a well-known businessman so this table death will surely make noise and will affect her Father's business.

She then went out of the operating room looking tired as ever. A woman in her fifties approached her immediately as she asked for a result.

"I'm sorry, we did our best--" Jennie started but then cut off by the woman's loud sobs as she knows this line. Jennie kept silent as she let the woman slap her and continuously hit her shoulder and chest.

"You did your best? Then why did he die!?" She asked but all Jennie can do is to stay silent as the woman was pulled away by some people who's with her and signaled her to leave.

She did do her best on the operation to save him but they should know that she's a doctor and not a god to give someone life. Jennie then felt herself breaking down as she leaned her back on the wall, listening to the wailing of the people who just lost someone tonight. She was exhausted and so done with this shitty situation, everything in on a downfall including her so how can people expect her to help them when she, herself is helpless?

The first few hours were like a dream for her because of him, and the last few hours felt like a nightmare.

Is he the cause of both of them?
