Chapter 7: I Lost

"Y/n! Y/n! Wake up! Rise and shine, beautiful!" I was awoken with continuous screaming and shaking from my roommate Hange. "Fuck off!" I yelled as I slammed my pillow over my head, craving the warmth of sleep. "Oh, someone's not a morning person!" Hange sang cheerfully. "Don't make me dump water on you" again Hange spoke, but this time it was serious and I knew she wasn't kidding. I jumped out of bed. "I'm up! Geez woman, get off my case."

"Yay! I just didn't want you to be late for the expedition today. Now get dressed!" she sang. "Yes, mom." I replied sarcastically, but Hange just laughed and continued getting ready. Once I was dressed and ready, I headed to the mess hall for a quick bite to eat. Hange joined me. I wasn't nervous for our mission today, I knew everything would go smoothly.

Just as always I sat at my usual table in the corner. Erwin and, surprisingly, Levi were already sitting there, when Hange and I arrived. I looked at Hange confused and she mirrored my expression. It was a well known fact between our 'friend group' that Levi didn't really get along with Erwin. I wasn't sure what it was, I mean yeah sometimes I didn't even get along with Erwin, but overall he was a really nice guy. I sat down across from Levi with Hange next to me, per usual. I could feel the tension in the air the second I sat down. "Good morning Erwin and Levi!" Hange chirped as she sat down. "Goodmorning Hange, how are you?" Erwin asked. This lead Hange to a rant about her morning, which I thought was uneventful but according to her it was not.

"Morning Levi" I said, glancing at Levi. "Morning" he dryly replied, glaring daggers at me. I glared right back at him, 'Wonder what the hell his problem is this morning.'

"Y/n, did you sleep alright?" Erwin asked me, a pleasant smile plastered on his face. "I slept like shit, nothing new." I said, I never slept well. "I can tell," said Levi. "The bags under your eyes are darker than the night sky" I could hear the playfulness in his tone, and see the slight smirk forming on his lips. I smirked, "Thank you Levi, I really appreciate the compliment." I said, blowing him a kiss and winking. Hange was laughing and Erwin looked uncomfortable. 'Does he not know we're joking?' Levi rolled his eyes at my gesture and continued to eat. "You two! Quit flirting, you're both so awful at it!" Hange said in between laughs. I glared at Hange, "That's probably because we weren't flirting, idiot." Erwin was laughing nervously and eating his food.

"So Shorty, where are Isabel and Furlan? Somewhere sucking face?" Hange asked Levi. "Don't know, most likely not what you said." He replied coldly. Just then Isabel and Furlan walked in together. They got their food and then joined us. Isabel sat next to me and I was greeted with a gentle hug, which I returned. Furlan sat next to Levi and smiled at me, which I also returned. The rest of breakfast was spent with excitement from Isabel and Hange, a few 'tch's' from Levi, and overall good feelings from everyone. After breakfast I walked to the stables with Isabel to get our horses ready. I also had to make sure Levi's horse was ready, 'such a pain in the ass.'

"I just hope it's everything I imagined!" Isabel said, staring off dreamily, thinking about outside the walls. "I'm sure it will be," I replied, patting her shoulder. "Why were you late to breakfast?" Isabel blushed. "What? Oh um I- I um I couldn't find my shoes haha!" She replied nervously. "Furlan had to help you find your shoes?" I questioned. The small girl turned a darker shade of red. "Oh, shut it. We're just friends."

"Whatever you say" I said playfully. "Why do you look like you haven't slept in a week? Get railed last night?" I was shocked for a moment, 'I guess I deserve that for pushing her' I thought. "What? No! I couldn't sleep and I went to get tea and Levi was there and we talked. That's it." Isabel smiled. She looked at me playfully. "Do you like Levi-bro, Y/n? It's ok, you can be honest with me." It was then that I noticed I was blushing. I didn't think I liked Levi, I just wanted to be his friend. I mean sure maybe friends didn't picture themselves making out or doing other things with their friends. But I mean how could I know, Hange was my best friend and we made out all the time.
