TW: Panic, mentions of injuries

Underlined is Callahan's writing

Callahan sat next to me, leaving Niki a space on my right. 

Did the trip go as planned? Callahan wrote out. 

"It did, for the most part... Sap getting injured wasn't really on the agenda" I replied with a shrug. 

Niki shifted beside me, looking at Callahan nervously. 

"Callahan, this is Niki, she is a very good friend of mine" I introduced. Callahan regarded Niki.

Hello Niki, He wrote.

Niki's face cracked a smile, she waved shyly. 

"Is he unable to speak?" she asked me with uncertainty. 

"Callahan's able to talk.. right?" I started before turning to him. He shrugged. "I assume he just doesn't want to" I add, unsure. 

Callahan shrugs again. 

"Your antlers are very beautiful, I've never seen anything like them before" Niki compliments shyly. 

Callahan rubbed his neck. I'd never seen him flustered before, this was the closest to nervous I'd seen him. 

Thank you, that's very kind of you  Callahan showed Niki the paper. Niki scans the page thoughtfully. 

Callahan stands up, his hand brushing mine and intentionally touching his pinky to mine. It was a small sign and shouldn't mean as much as it did. Callahan didn't enjoy large displays of affection when he didn't institute it, he liked small gestures and smiles. 

Without another glance, he walked off silently.

Niki watched him leave, sighing. 

"What do you do here?" she asked. I shrugged. 

"It varies from day to day, but as of right now, we should prepare for dinner," I reply. I got to my feet quickly, holding a hand out for Niki. She gratefully accepted and I showed her to the medical ward again. 

Puffy was bandaging Sapnap's arm when we arrived, looking up when the door creaked open. 

She gave me a wink and settled her gaze on Niki. 

Niki seemed frozen in place, afraid to look away. 

"Hello," Puffy greeted quietly. 

"Hi," Niki replied, her voice barely audible. I shoved her the tiniest bit forward. 

Puffy wasted no time and strode over. She buried Niki into a tight hug.

I smiled. Many friends were getting reunited here it seemed. 

"Niki, what are you doing here?" Puffy asked lightly as she pulled away. 

"She's going to be staying with us from now on," I explained. Puffy nodded in understanding. 

"That's wonderful" Puffy smiled. 

"How is he?" Niki asked, looking at Sapnap. 

"He will be okay, a few hours of rest should heal him up," Puffy stated. I nodded in relief. George had most likely gone off with Dream since he wasn't here. 

"And Ranboo?" Niki pondered. Puffy pursed her lips. 

"Ranboo seems to be in perfect health, he just isn't waking up," she replied slowly. I exhaled, a long and deep release of disappointment.
