Chapter 10: SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK

"-She's a lady, and I'm just a line without a HOOK-"

"Can you stop? My ears are bleeding."

" You're just jealous I can sing!"

"You really can't though."

Ceasar and Joseph were currently sitting in Ceasar's car, waiting for Suzi Q and Smokey so they can all head to the movies together. The sun was setting and the movie would soon start. As the pair waited for the other two. Joseph basting his own music and Caesar pretends to be annoyed by it. Though he would never admit it the brunette had a good, if not amazing, taste in music and it was surprisingly similar to Caesars.

They may not show it often but, they had a lot in common and the two enjoyed each other's company.

Towards the 30 minute mark of waiting Joseph was starting to get antsy. "Ugh, where are those two!?" he reclined his chair all the way back and threw his arms in the air with annoyance. Even though Joseph had a massive crush on Suzi and loved Smokey like a brother, he was still very impatient, and having to wait in a small car was not doing him any favors.

Caesar noticed this a proposed an idea.

"You wanna sit on the hood of my car?" he asked, a tint of pink dusting on his cheeks. Joseph looked at him and smiled, the same pink on his face. 

"Wow, you'd actually let me sit on the hood of the car? Who are you?!" Joseph laughed as he opened the door.

"Yeah, Yeah, don't get used to it." Caesar rolled his eyes and got out of the car. A small smile on his lips.

Now the pair were sitting on the blonde's car, definitely denting it in the process, but Caesar didn't care. He and Joseph were having fun, joking around, and not paying attention to anything else around them.

The light spring breeze and growing trees provide a nice setting for the view of the sun setting as the two eventually eased into a comfortable silence.

Joseph laid his head on the Italian's shoulder, something he did very often. 

But why did it feel so different now?

As hard as he tried Caesar couldn't keep his eyes off his best friend. He looked down at the figure laying on him, and inevitably Joseph looked back up at him. 

They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity, never breaking eye contact. Their faces inch apart and the silence deafening.

 And as they were slowly getting closer, points of their noses almost touching-

"Hey, guys! I'm so sorry we're late, Suzi had to finish her shift!" Smokey ran up to the pair as they quickly separated and looked away from each other, faces very red. 

Suzi slowly caught up with the boys, eyeing Caesar as she walked up.

As soon as Suzi walked up to the brunette Joseph acted like he completely forgot about the 'almost kiss' he had with his best friend and started flirting with the girl. 

Caesar looked at the couple and gave a weak, almost hurt, smile.

I mean why would Joseph ever like him back...

*Hey... how ya'll doing... I'd like to tell you guys I was super productive during my break but in reality, I've been staying in bed depressed and in a semi-toxic relationship. But don't worry I'm fine now, I think?
