Chapter 13

George wakes up alone again, with Dream nowhere to be seen. He rolls over onto the other side of the bed to find it stone cold, like no one had been there for a long time. George's first thoughts are for Dream's welfare, where has he gone, is he injured, what could have happened to him.

He gets out of bed and quickly showers, putting on some fresh work clothes; it's only 6:30am so he has plenty of time until he needs to go to work. He walks around the apartment just to make sure that the other isn't there, which he isn't.

He notices the door to the office slightly ajar and goes in to see why, he notices lots of the folders that had previously been stacked neatly on the desk and shelves were mixed up and that they had been shuffled through, probably in a rush as nothing had been put back to how it was before.

A few folders on one shelf had obviously been removed and taken as there was a gap of about three files wide where the others had leaned in to fill the space. George goes over to investigate and finds nothing to give him any clues as to what had been done with the files or where they had been taken.

He assumes Dream has taken them but he's not sure where to, instead he focuses on getting ready for work and he eats breakfast before packing his things to catch the bus.

He blocks out the worst thoughts from him mind and steps out of their front door, locking it behind him and briskly walking to get the lift down to the ground floor.

Once he gets onto the bus he sits down with a sigh, puts in his earphones and opens his phone. He sees that Karl had messaged, asking if he wants to go over to his house after he's done teaching at school today. He immediately replies saying that he would love to before a new notification appears, similar to the one that he had received the other day:

George stares at his phone in disbelief, he's worried about his own safety of course but Dream is still at the front of his mind.

George arrives at the school and immediately forgets everything that's going on when he sees his nursery class, they always find a way to make him laugh.

He finishes teaching and once all of the students have been picked up and taken home he can pack up his things and leave for Karl's.

He can easily walk to Karl's from the school so there's no need to get the bus, he puts in his earphones and listens to music while he walks. He doesn't notice that there's someone following him until he turns the corner into Karl's street and sees a shadowy figure behind him.

He walks quickly but calmly another 10m to Karl's house; a small but cosy terrace. He's glad to see the figure behind him carry on when he goes up to Karl's door and tries to forget about it.

He is excited to see Karl and also his mate Sapnap who George hasn't met yet, Karl opens the door and without hesitation, pulls George into a suffocating hug. George notices someone else behind him and Karl moves out of the way so that George could see Sapnap, he is a dark haired and kind of short alpha who gives George a friendly smile.

"Hey George, if so good to see you" Karl says, stepping back to address his friend.

"I know it been so long, we have so much to talk about" George says, his mood instantly lifted by the presence of his friend.

"Come in, I'll make us some tea, I have cake as well that I made earlier" Karl steps aside for George to enter their house.
