He had pulled away from the kiss, as I saw on the floor the colors of when the sun was beginning to set. Golden hour they call it. The feeling that it was soon to be pitch black was at first wild due to the day I had. After all, it was shortly coming to an end once the sun would go away and come back in the morning. Maybe we would see the shining stars, twinkling away at night. He smiled, "Seems like you couldn't help but kiss me.." I chuckled, "You could say that..""If you don't want to have the wings out you can get rid of them, like I said all you have to do is snap and the wings will go back in. It's gonna be painful but it will get better over time." I snapped as he siad it was painful at first but then got numb. He had then asked if I would be able to return back to Le Papillion now after we had talked about what made me rain out in the first place. "So like you're asking me out on a date..more of a do-over though.." We both laughed, "Maybe..I am.." he smiled, "You may like it, I heard it's considered to be classic French food. Plus maybe we can get a discount..I happened to know the owner.." he grinned as I stared at him, "Oh really..ok then. Let's head to la mouche amère." he raised a brow, "The what?", "You know..the Bitterfly.." he smiled, "Oh so you do know french..", "Just a little bit.." as we exited the building he took me to where we were before. That being all the way back to his mother's cafe.
Even trying to forgetting about him, he has his ways to appear both in my mind and seeing me in person. It was like a horrible memory. Trying my best to keep a smile on my face to hide the anger and jealousy feeling of what has come between us was just eating away at me making me almost want to frown. "Seems like now is the time for the party to get started.." Rosemary muttered as she took a drink from her cup. I tried to look away from him as he wasn't the same.
"Look at me.." I heard Jacob mumble, as I looked at him, "You'll be okay..I am right here.." he held my hand as I nodded while glancing over and seeing what Colton was drinking, being a Ginger Ale Beer, a classic soft drink that was one of the few that had a spin off brand that combined it with alcohol; he had been staring at me. "Would either of you two want a slice of Vanilla Cake with Strawberry Jam.." I shook my head no, "You sure Mariah.." she had been smirking saying my name, I looked over to glare at her to avoid eye contact with Colton.
"Yeah I've heard that this is the cake that tastes so good. I had made it at..umm..what the place called again..oh right..yeah it was at this place called Vanilla Cakes.." She giggled, and caught me looking at her, "Oh yes you are working there and did make this cake my bolt of lightning," I withheld my eyes from rolling and was glad he found someone who calls him what he wanted to call me, his bolt of lightning. Though he was different now, drinking alcohol, I have never seen him drink before. I felt a hand on my shoulder and was startled but looked over and it was just Jacob asking if I would like a drink. "I will just take a Strawberry Fanta.."
He nodded and walked off as I heard Colton laughing. "Same old drink since the seventh grade..which only brings you to being the same old Mariah," Rosemary had chuckled, "Why don't you try something new..as getting something old is just boring." both of them laughed as I sighed as it was just them teasing. I was used to being teased. "So. How have you been since we last saw each other? Is the evil treating you like one of those prince charmings in the fairytale books.." I groaned, he knew never to call me by my birth name as it always drove me insane. I squeezed my hand in the shape of a fist just wanting to hit him so badly, but I knew I just couldn't.
But having that thought of wanting to punch him could have led me to hit Rosemary as well, but I choose to handle it in a peaceful manner instead of making a huge scene. "We've been fine actually, and he has been a charming prince. No ounce of evil at all. So what about you? You're dating the Shedevil..is she princess material." Having the feeling that both could be drunk, would have this conversation be forgotten during their hangover the next morning. I just felt the glare from him as I felt a familiar tap on my shoulder as it was Jacob handing me the Strawberry Fanta but it seemed to be a lighter shade of red. "I mixed lemonade with it, it will taste like strawberry lemonade or maybe strawberry cream soda.." I smiled, "Thanks..", "As you were saying we are well viking..and yes she has the princess material.."
"Viking. Well isn't that quite an interesting choice in words.." I took a sip of my drink as he knew what he meant to say. He was originally trying to say the word vibing and not viking. "Hey Jacobsen did you know.." he laughed as something inside was feeling off. "Mariah is named after.." my eyes widened as I knew where he was going with it, "Shut up Colton.." I muttered, as he looked at me with a smirk, "Why don't you make me." he glared at me but then back at Jacobsen, "Whatever it is..I don't need to know Colton.." Jacob said, "So you don't want to know who she was named after?" Colton asked, he looked at Rosemary and Jacob, "No I don't..", "I do.." Rosemary said as Colton smiled. "Well she was named after her annoying Aunt Mariana who happened to dress up as Mariah Carey during the holidays..and people had believed you were actually related to singer Mariah Carey." he and Rosemary laughed, "You know the girl who sings All I want for Christmas is.."
He booped my nose and sang "you..." I smacked his hand, "Don't ever think about touching me.." I glared at him as he just kept the same smirk on his face. He then grabbed my wrist and laughed, "Let go of me." though he did not let go as I saw the chair he was sitting on. I had kicked it as he had fallen and released his grip from my wrist. I looked at Jacob and pulled him aside. "I know this isn't the best thing as it's happening again but can we please leave.." he nodded. "For sure. And I'm sorry I had no idea he would be here.." he whispered. He went to hold my hand and proceeded to walk out of the restaurant with me. "I know it was sort of a bust..but I'm sure you will have a better time whenever he isn't there." I sighed, "Have any other places in mind?" I asked. He then told me he has a place in mind, and he highly doubted that Colton would know about it as his sister doesn't even know about it.
He went on to tell me that the place in mind was near the pier which happened to be where we were near the beach. It is a private cafe called The Magicians Cove. He then pulled out his phone and went to take a call. I looked at him strangely from afar, he then walked back to me. "Alright. I got us a seat..as my friend Dominic has a table all set for us..luckily it isn't crowded." He smiles, telling me to close my eyes as we'd get there in a second.
"So will this count as our actual first date..so like a second do-over.." he laughs, "I say so. Anyways. You seem to be tense. Every thought that maybe breathing or taking a few breaths to help to lighten you up a bit." I raised a brow, "What?", "Are you overthinking is what I am asking. I've been told even though I overthink a lot, I will somehow make it harder to concentrate on stuff like all the fun I may never see in the world." I raised a brow, "So you're saying I have no fun..and are an overthinker?" he nodded.
"Yes. But I know what happened earlier frightened you and scared you and made you go back into your shell but take a chance and trust me and my words. You're gonna like to have fun even if you're overthinking everything." I looked at him and started to think, "Just breathe in and out.." I took a few breaths, "So stop thinking and start counting down. Counting down from five," I tilted my head, but ended up taking his advice or his method along with a few more breaths. "You know I won't let anything happen to you. You know that."
I nodded as I closed my eyes, I could even sense his hands were over my eyes trying to peek but only saw darkness, "five..four..three..", "I know your eyes are open.." he whispered, "Take it from five.." he said. "Sorry.." I closed them now in total darkness. "Five..four..three..two..and..one.." He laughs. "Open.." he whispers as he removes his hands. I then saw the scenery had changed. "What..on.." I was speechless. Somehow in five short seconds we were in The Magicians Cove but the question on my mind was how.
