Long chapter, and maybe you'll be confused but I'll explain at the end.
_____________
The world was a blur. I couldn't see or hear anyone.
My body was drained emotionally. This, this was the last blow.

I faintly heard the sirens behind me.
"Sir we need to take her." A doctor said.
I grasped onto her body for dear life.

They put Charlie on a bed, as the nurses injected her with wires and an oxygen mask.
My heart broke looking at her state.

My Charlie, she's dying.

I hopped inside the ambulance, as the nurses and doctors shuffled around the tiny space, writing things and checking the machines.

I held onto Charlie's hand.
I removed a strand of hair from her face.

She looked so peaceful, and it terrified me.
I've heard stories, that when people died, they looked peaceful, they're resting.

And it's what terrified me most.

The sound of a thumping heart woke my mind.
It filled my ears, making me light up.
The machine next to her thumped in such a rapid pattern.

She's alive, injured, but alive.

It was like a drug, hearing her heartbeat in the monitor, it was soothing, even if it was rapid.

I softly chuckled, and kissed her forehead.
"You're alive, you're alive." I whispered in her ear. A few tears left my eyes, and I watched as they fell onto the top of her hand.

Two nurses and the doctor stood next to Charlie on the other end, murmuring to each other.

"You're going to be okay baby. Hang in there, please." I whispered in her ear hoping she'd hear it.

Charlie's heartbeat starting getting faster in a split second.
The nurses and the doctor's eyes immediately skimmed the heartbeat monitor.

The doctor barked orders that were all gibberish to me.
The nurses rushed from side to side, plunging more needles inside her skin.

"She's not going to make it..." A nurse mumbled to the side.

I felt a stab inside my chest, all my hopes flushed down. I held tightly onto Charlie's hand.
I looked at her face, all the color drained from it, she looked lifeless, her usual dazzling smile has disappeared.

"I'm sorry, Charlie. I'm sorry, I killed you. I let you race, and now you're paying the price. This is all my fault, I'm so so sorry. God, I'm such an idiot. This is all my fault. I can't believe I let you slip out of my hands. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about your mom, I was trying to protect you and now look what happened." I grasped onto her hand, hoping she'd revive somehow.

I kissed her lips, all of her face. Her hand, her arm, her ear.

"I'm so so sorry. It's my fault. If you don't make it, I--I don't know what I'll do." I sniffed.

Soon enough, the hospital came into view. Charlie's heart was beating faster and faster.

They trailed her out on the bed, as they rushed inside emergencies.
"Sir, I need you to wait." The nurse said in a hurry.

"No I'll go with her." I snapped.

"Sir, you have to stay. Now."
After seeing that the nurse was desperate, I nodded and went to the waiting area.

I paced back and forth, as I dialed Carter's number.
"Hello?" He yawned. I checked the time which read 1:39 am.

"Carter you have to come to the hospital." I rushed.
