I had finally finished the podium ceremony before I gave Charlotte the trophy so I could get to the hospital as fast as possible. Media wanted to interview me, but I ran past them all. All i cared about was Aria and the babies. I wasn't going to miss their birth either.
I raced to the car where Jon was already waiting for me to et it so we could get to the hospital. Luckily the hospital wasn't too far from the track. We were pulling up to the hospital when I got a text from Andreas who had gone to the hospital with Aria to make sure she was alright until I had gotten there.
"She's doing good, shes only 5 cm dilated right now, how far are you?" he texted me as we pulled up.
"Just got here, will be up in a few minutes." I responded back to him.
I thanked Jon as he dropped me off. I ran into the building and asked the receptionist where Aria was and I went to her room.
ARIA POV
I was in a lot of pain. I wanted to have the babies without medication but it was really hard especially since Lando wasn't here yet. I was scared and he was my safety. I was mid contraction when I heard footsteps running down the hall. It was Lando. I saw him in his overalls still which meant he hadnt changed yet. He was in tears when he saw me in so much pain and I was in tears because he was.
"Baby, are you okay. I'm so sorry I couldnt be there with you when it happened. Im so sorry." He said in tears.
"Its okay love, Im just glad youre here now." I responded as another contraction started.
"Are you okay love?"
IT took me a moment to respond, "yeah, just a contraction. are you going to go and change now? there are some clothes for you in the bag in the corner."
He laughed as he went into the bathroom and changed into more comfortable clothes. Andreas took them just before he left so they could get back to the team.
A doctor walked in the room and had checked to see how far I was dilated so far.
"Okay Aria, you are at ten centimeters now so we are about to start pushing. Whenever you feel a contraction, you will take a deep breath, put your chin to your chest and push for ten seconds, then relax. Lando, I'll need you to help and hold her leg up for her." The doctor said. I was terrified.
LANDO POV
I started to get slightly nervous, but I couldnt show it because I couldnt imagine what Aria was feeling. I looked over at Aria and she had tears in her eyes. I beant down and gave her a quick hug and whispered to her, "Everything is alright babe, I'm here."
She nodded and then the nurses got her in position to give birth. I was nervous because in the moment it hit me, I'm about to become a dad of twins. I helped Aria by holding her hand and keeping her leg up like the doctor had instructed.
"Okay Aria, you are having a contraction so in 3 seconds start to push, 3, 2, 1." The doctor said. Aria screamed out in pain and squeezed my hand so tightly, I kept her leg up but she just wanted my hand. The doctor noticed and let me know that it was fine and I could hold her hand. A few pushes had gone by and one of the twins' heads started to come out. I had tears in my eyes. I couldnt believe this was happening.
"Okay Aria, I need one really hard push to get this first baby out alright, 3, 2, 1 go."
Aria screamed as she pushed as hard as she could, and then the most beautiful sound I have ever heard happened. One our twins crying. It was beautiful and sad at the same time.
"Congrats here is your baby girl." The doctor said as she gave her to Aria who was in tears just as I was.
"She's absolutely beautiful" I cried out. Aria was speechless as she was still in pain but in awe of our sweet baby girl.
"Okay Aria, we have to get brother out now okay. I'm going to take her to get cleaned up but she will be back in a second." The doctor said to Aria.
She nodded and it was time to get the baby boy out now. I could tell that she was ready for this all to be over and done with.
"Only a few more pushes baby and then you're done." I whispered into her ear as she nodded at what I had told her. I took ahold of her hand and as she was having another contraction I could feel her squeeze my hand even tighter than she did with baby girl. After a few more pushes his whole head was out, she just had to push one more time and then the worst part was over. I kept telling her one more push, one more push and then it happened.
ARIA POV
I did one last long push as my baby boy was finally born. I heard him cry and I burst into tears. I had done it and it was finally over. They handed me my baby and I looked over at Lando who was given the baby girl and his eyes were full of tears. He gave me a long kiss as we cherished this moment with our babies. A moment I will never forget. The nurses had to go clean the baby boy and I got to hold my daughter again for what I saw as the first time because when she was born, I had to put all of my focus on her brother. I looked at her and she reminded me so much of Lando.
"She looks just like you Land."
He just gave me a small smile as we looked at our beautiful daughter. Lando was then given our baby boy and I could tell he was really emotional.
"You have a karting buddy." I said to him as he smiled back at me.
"Don't think that she might not want to kart as well A." He laughed as I stared at him whilst laughing. "I love you darling" Lando said and I mouthed it back to him.
When I had gotten more comfortable I moved over so Lando could sit on the bed with my as well as we looked at our twins. Our twins. It felt surreal that we were parents now.
"What are we going to name them?" Lando asked as I looked at the two of them sound asleep in our arms.
"What do you think of Delanie, I thought Delanie Mae sounded cute since we agreed on using my mom's name as her middle name."
"I love that. What do you think of the name Everett?"
"I love that too. Maybe Everett Adam?"
"Perfect." Lando said. "Shall we make a post?" I nodded to him as we took a photo of them togehter.
