My friend brought up the ship-
And guess who's writing it? So, @ spycrxator_ , hope you enjoy!
Oh! And it's sorta a fluffy winter chapter-...
Or is it?
~Story Starts~
Elisha stretched his arms, the snow wrapped around his ankles causing slight discomfort in the boots he wore. He looked to the cabin where the guards stood by, his eyes firm on each. He moved slowly past, examining each figure.
"Sir," A man addressed.
"What is it?"
"The general called for you in his cabin..."
Elisha sighed, nodding. "As you were," he dismissed, soon looking to the building. He grinned, smoothing his hair back.
He hurried past the younger man, hiding his eagerness to see the General. He pulled the door open, stomping the snow from his boots before hurrying in. He glanced up, catching sight of George. "Your Excellency."
"Mr. Sheldon! Come on in, come on it... Have a seat." Washington signaled the other over. Elisha followed orders, and moved over, taking a seat near where Washington sat.
"Did you need something, George?"
"Company, if anything." The older laughed, easily setting a kettle onto the table. "Can I offer you some coffee?"
"Company? What was this? Some elaborate scheme to get me in here with you?" Elisha joked, "and yes, some coffee would do nicely. Anything warm, really."
Washington smiled, filling two tin cups with the coffee, sliding one to Elisha. "If you see this as elaborate, then go ahead," the General grinned. "But, otherwise, I would assume so there. You and the men spend hours at a time out there performing your duties-"
"On demand, yes." Sheldon lifted the cup to his lips, taking a sip from it. "It's all part of a days work... Even if the frostbite does nibble at the nose, fingers, and toes."
Washington took a sip from his cup, soon setting back onto the wooden table below him. "I wouldn't offer that position unless I thought you capable. And of course, rank has to be approved. I've had some men here and there prove their rank was too much. Nonetheless, you've held fairly."
"An honor." Elisha bowed his head to Washington, soon looking back up to the General. "I'm glad I'm serving well, your Excellency."
"All the well. Obedient and humble." George took another sip of coffee, this time keeping eye contact with Elisha. It would be hard to tell if he flushed or not, do to his cheeks seeming already rosy, where the wind had nipped and bit at them for hours.
Elisha glanced away, taking a sip of the coffee he was granted. He knew his face was heating up, but it was well hidden beneath the kisses of frostbite. "Obedient indeed, your Excellency."
George leaned onto his palm, glancing towards Elisha. "So, you can start letters with 'hi', but you're too embarrassed to hold a casual conversation?"
"Not at all. I don't know what you see in me, but I am not shy."
"I've known you for years, Sheldon. I do not see you as shy. You're just troubled when it comes to certain forms of socializing. You do seem to be more serious."
"As a good soldier is," Elisha batted his eyes to the door, hopeful that the men outside didn't hear- perhaps chose to ignore what they heard from inside.
"Yes, but even a good soldier knows when he can cut-back, have a drink, and talk." Washington explained. He lifted Sheldon's hand, placing a kiss on the clothed knuckles. "Surely you understand that."
