(I was going to do a memes/headcanons thing, but because of reasons, I couldn't, so in it's place I offer a short, badly written one-shot that I came up with while I was writing. Frank and Hazel came over for the holidays)
Thanksgiving was always fun. During the day the campers would connect all or most of the tables into one long one and covered it with a huge orange-and-red covering so that for that one day, everyone could be unseparated, together. The campers could sit with whoever they wanted, and it was one of the best camp traditions.
Since it was so special, everyone agreed that the dinner would be home-cooked, not just magically spelled out of nowhere, so the campers that knew how to cook, half of which were Demeter kids, would go to the kitchen. There would always be at least 3 turkeys, huge pots of mashed potatoes with gravy and stuffing, other stuff, and after that, pumpkin pies for dessert.
Since Percy was decent in the kitchen, he was usually a part of the cooking committee. Annabeth, on the other hand, was the unspoken leader of the others that were rearranging the tables and decorating the dining pavilion.
Percy was in the kitchen, the only other from the 7 with him Piper, who was actually a pretty good cook. There was a total of about 30 campers jammed into the kitchen, however big it may be. Every year they used the same recipes for everything, so everyone knew what to do, except for Piper. Most of the other new campers were much younger, most below 12 years old, so they were all given the easier task of putting up the lighter decorations.
This was Piper's first Thanksgiving at Camp Half-Blood, and she wanted to make sure to not mess up. Percy had worked on the pie the past few years so, as to keep with her guide, Piper followed suit, joining the people baking the pies.
Thanksgiving cooking at CHB was pretty much the definition of 'too many cooks in the kitchen', but everyone there always had a blast.
Meanwhile, Annabeth and the others were in the dining pavilion, putting assortments of decor and rearranging the furniture. The decorations included different squash, pumpkins, and cornucopias, fake of course. Piper's real cornucopia would, unfortunately, not be making an appearance. It was bustling with campers, and everyone was enjoying themselves, whether they would admit it or not.
Jason and Frank were helping with the tables, Annabeth and Hazel with the decor. Leo claimed to be helping, but he mostly just went around cracking jokes, occasionally setting a piece of something on fire.
Ok, so I got lazy and didn't want to finish it, so here is a sad, unfinished Thanksgiving oneshot. If anyone wants to use this as a prompt or something, feel free to ask.
