„Detective McCartney, we've got another 10 cases, another 10 people died this week." Brian said before he took a sip of his glass of water.

Paul sighed. „Look Mr. Epstein, me and Dussel, we are doing everything we can, we still don't have a clue who it could be, this serial killer is too good at their job." He swallowed hard before he finished what he wanted to say. „They must be doing this late at night, but this is case is absolutely pointless. Nobody had seen anything suspicious and let me know about anything so far. Literally nobody has the slightest clue about the person. I've tried to talk to people outside in the city if they had spotted anything suspicious and really everything I've got were frowning faces with no reply. This case is unbelievable, the killer is so bloody smart and fantastic at their job." Paul was saying every sentence louder and louder.

Brian stood up, „listen Detective McCartney, you are our best detective, you have always solved every single one of the cases that we've had so far. What is happenig to you now? Make up your bloody mind for Christ's sake."

„But Mr. Epstein" his voice cracked a bit and anger was rising in his throat „Why can't you bloody understand that this one is just diffrent. I honestly don't-"

„I'm firing Dussel."

Paul's eyes widened, „I'm sorry, you- what? Did I hear right what you had just fucking said?"

„Mr. McCartney listen you know that Dussel sucks, he is no good and does useless bullshit. Since you have been working with him, you are just glowing down. Isn't it bloody visible to you?" Brian frowned.

„But Mr. Epstein you have absolutely no clue about how he really is, he is my good partner and-"

„No Detective McCartney, I'm firing him, that's final and if you won't try to do something more about this case I'm firing you too. He is just a distraction and not helpful with anything." Brian slammed his hand on the table and interrupted Paul, then sat back down behind his wooden desk with two drawers, took his pipe from one of the drawers and lit it for himself, he put his hat off of his head and put it on the table before he looked at the smoke in front of him.

„Mr. Epstein you can't be serious." Paul was dissapointed at his master.

Brian rolled his eyes. „Calm down Mr. McCartney, listen, I really appreciate your work but this is not how it's supposed to be, you need to be working harder on this case, and I am firing Dussel because i don't want to risk lives of more people, but I know that you are a good detective and my friend and I can trust you with this." He inhaled from his pipe and exhaled the smoke slowly.

Paul listened to his words carefully and waited a while before he answered wich was simple. „Alright."

„And I also think that you don't need a partner for this case. You are good on your own lad." Brian finished his speech.

„Alright Mr. Epstein, I don't know what more to say about this, I will do as you told me. I can't lose my job y'know." Paul said, used his hands while he was talking and accepted Brian's words.
