A week had already passed and Hongjoong was left alone. Before leaving, his kidnapper said that he could take the blindfold off but when he heard 3 knocks at the door, he was to put it back on. Hongjoong didn't know how long he was going to be gone.

He looked around the nice apartment. The TV was set on a small cabinet with glass doors filled with DVDs from all different years. In the kitchen, the microwave was to the left of the fridge and a dishwasher was next to it. A bowl filled with fruit was sitting in the right corner and a few cabinets were hanging on the wall opposite the oven.

Hongjoong had been lying on the bed watching TV for two hours and felt so bored. He could feel his eyes starting to drop and he fell asleep.

He flinched awake an hour later, eyes darting around and locked on the clock on the bedside table to his right; 12:06.

One thing Hongjoong noticed―and found a little strange―was that there were no photos of family, friends or pets. There was nothing.

He sat up, scooting off the bed and then walked toward the wardrobe. Pulling the doors open, the force caused the hanging clothes to move and he looked through them.

He was going to be honest, his kidnapper had a great sense of style.

Crouching, he looked at the shelf below and there were a few pairs of shoes; a few looking to have been worn a lot, another pair that didn't even look like they had been touched and another pair of shoes that looked worn, just not as much as the others.

Lifting his gaze, the shelf above caught his eye and he tiptoed to try to get a better look but he wasn't tall enough. Letting out a huff of annoyance, he looked around for anything that could be used to stand on. He pushed the coffee table over and stepped up. There were many shoe boxes stacked. Hongjoong began going through them and moving them around to see if anything was hiding.

He hoped to find cards that would keep him occupied so he didn't fall asleep from how bored he was.

Hongjoong opened a blue box and shifted around in that. A smile grew on his lips and he grabbed the deck of cards before stepping down from the table. He left it there when he needed to place the cards back. He set up Solitaire which he played for a couple of hours until he got bored again.

Hongjoong stepped back up onto the table and put the deck back. He went through a few more boxes, really wanting to find something to help him get to know his abductor. He pushed aside a box.

Bingo!

In the back right corner was a black, shiny box and Hongjoong reached inside to grab it. He got down and set the slightly heavy box on the coffee table. The first thing he saw opening the lid were letters. And there were a lot of them. His eyes scanned over one.

My dear Seonghwa

His eyes widened. Was that the name of his kidnapper? Or maybe it was addressed to someone else that his kidnapper had written for and hadn't had the chance to send off. Or maybe he didn't want to send it.

My dear Seonghwa,

As you know, I do not have much time left in this world. I want you to be strong. I know it's heartbreaking, but you have your mother to look after you.

Hongjoong skimmed over the words until he got to the end.

I love you so much, and I know you and your mother will miss me dearly.

Love you with all my heart,
xx.

Looking through the box, he was surprised at what he saw and dropped the letters. That... that was a gun. He hurried to put everything back when just then, his heart almost stopped and a coldness went throughout his body. Three loud knocks sounded at the door and the rattle of keys reached his ears. Hongjoong jumped down and pushed the coffee table back. He snatched the blindfold off the bed and put it on just as the front door opened. He shakily sat down on the end of the mattress.
