(The night of the break-in)

Hongjoong was leaning up against the door with his ear pressed to it so he could try to listen in on the conversation Seonghwa was having with the police. He winced when he moved his injured arm and moved away from the door as he lifted his bandaged arm up. Seonghwa did a good job. While he cleaned off the dried blood, Hongjoong couldn't look at it, worried that the wound was deep enough that he could see the bone but Seonghwa reassured him that even though it was a deep wound, it wasn't deep enough for the bone to be visible. He luckily didn't have to get stitches and Seonghwa was glad because he didn't want to have to perform that on him.

Hongjoong sighed through his nose and leaned his head against the door. He was also worried about Seonghwa since he had been hit quite a bit but Seonghwa said that he would be fine.

"Okay, let's go over this again just to make sure you haven't left out anything. So this man broke in while you were at work and he was still here when you got back?" The officer questioned and Seonghwa gave a firm nod.

"Yes."

"He then attacked you and that's how you ended up with the cut on your arm."

Seonghwa nodded and the officer looked at his arm that had been injured. While on the phone with the police, they asked if he had been injured and he informed them that he had been cut on the arm, but it wasn't a deep wound. He told them he could easily take care of it and wouldn't need it to be looked at. They brought an ambulance for the man who fell down the stairs and he was still unconscious by the time they arrived.

"You're lucky he didn't cut deep," the officer said with raised brows. The paramedics treated his injury and said he wouldn't need stitches.

"Yeah, I guess I am lucky," he said with a small smile as he leaned up against the wall with his arms crossed.

"Well, this man has actually been wanted for a while for committing 3 homicides. People had been reporting break-ins over the few months. I'm glad you came home at the time you did because this murderer would have gotten away."

Seonghwa hummed and looked over the man's shoulder at the ambulance loading the intruder into the back then focused back on the officer. "Well, Seonghwa, I hope you have a goodnight and I'm glad you weren't victim number four," the man said and patted Seonghwa's shoulder, giving him a smile.

"I'm glad too," he muttered and briefly glanced at the storage closet where Hongjoong was hiding.

That was 3 weeks ago and ever since that night, Hongjoong had been having a few nightmares where he'd wake up crying and he was glad Seonghwa was there to comfort him. He'd hold him close, whispering reassuring words into his ear and Hongjoong felt so warm, safe. Most of the time he would go back to sleep and Seonghwa never moved from his spot beside him until he woke up again.

Today marked 11 months since Hongjoong had been taken and he couldn't believe it had been that long already. He stopped having nightmares 2 weeks ago and now they were just weird or the type he couldn't remember or they were happy or... sensual.

Hongjoong ran his fingers through his short hair that fell just over his eyes and ruffled it. He had just gotten out of the shower so it was damp and the corners of his lips upturned in a small smile as he inspected it in the mirror. Seonghwa cut his hair yesterday and he did a good job. He gave him a bit of an undercut and Hongjoong really liked how it turned out. Was there nothing Seonghwa couldn't do? He seemed to be good at a lot of things. Speaking of Seonghwa, he had gone out somewhere for 30 minutes and he still wasn't back. He couldn't have gone food shopping since he did that only a few days ago, so where could he have been?
