chapter 17

[phone ringing]

[in call]"hello, Mrs.Kim!  you must come to the station as soon as possible!" I'll be there in 30 minutes I replied. I was so tired since I didn't get enough sleep but no other go. I have to go. while I was stressing about this, I woke up and saw jungkook gaming." jungkook ah! I have to go to the station now, see you later" . he replied by saying"ok".

[in office]

"Mrs.Kim!!! I think being a housewife sets you the best! did you see the t.v? the press is roasting the police department. are you sure you are doing your work? I don't want you to handle this case anymore." the head of our department barked at me as soon as I came.

"But sir" before even I complete my sentence he said " I'll take care"

I was really stressed out. since it is concluded as serial murder, the press is too curious and busy criticizing the police since already two deaths occurred. I switch on the t.v to see it.

[in t.v] there is a serial murder which happened and already two victims died. what are the police doing? it seems like the police didn't get any clue about the murder. 

I switch off the t.v since I was already stressed out. there was a lot of pressure for this particular case, so police were forced to find the serial murderer within a week although it's impossible. the case became the most searched word too. this particular case draws too much attention and one of the reasons is that it's a serial murder.

but the police found the murderer in a week which is a surprise. I looked close to how that person was branded as a murderer but doesn't make sense to me. there was flash news everywhere about the police catching the criminal but the evidence looks like it was actually made.

I went to the head of the investigation department. I asked him" sir, do you think everything which is happening makes sense? how can you state an innocent as a murderer?" "are you saying this since I finished the case before you did? well, since you are well known about this case I know this will happen. be cool about this" he said while viewing some documents.

sir let me remained you something if someone committed a crime. you have to get the punishment you deserve. That's the job of a cop.  I said to him in anger.

"Mrs.Kim I think you should take some rest to clear your mind. you are suspended for a week" he said while handling a paper. 

People like you who are considered cool even when they don't follow the rules wouldn't understand life like mine as I said, I took the paper from him and walked out of the station and sat on a bench to get some fresh air. then, one of my seniors from another department came and sat near me. "Jojo, I heard about everything. are you alright?" he asked me. "I am not fine I replied. Investigations are like sandcastles. You workhard to build up, but the wave comes and knocks it down constantly. But if youkeep at it, the low tide will come eventually he said trying to comfort me. he added "just go home and take some rest then, you'll be fine" I did as he said.

"jungkook ah i am home!" is he not home? why isn't he answering?"

"were you gaming all this time? why are you like this? why don't you do something useful?" I shouted at him while crying. "did something happen," he asked worriedly." why do you make life so hard? why do you look so pathetic when you think am I am not looking at you? do you know how hard is it for me to see you like this?" I cried so hard while saying it.

" do you think I am happy living like this? I don't like it either. I feel pathetic when I look at myself too. whom do you think I should blame to live like this?"jungkook said while shouting.

"I know you left your luxurious house for me; you left your mom; sacrificed your dream for me but you think I will be okay to see you sacrifice things for me when I know you aren't happy?" I shouted at him.

he smashed the door in anger and went out. I cried so hard. my phone rang.it was my friend.her name is  Baek Ae Ra.I cried out to her and after 15 minutes someone rang my doorbell. it was ae ra with some soju. I told her what happened." why do you show your work stress to him? " she said while pouring the soju. Do you know what's the biggest love in the world? It's a sacrifice  she added. "why should he have to do something which is gonna make him miserable ?" I said while gulping the soju.

 that's what you call love you fool" my friend said while stretching her legs.

"At times, you guys may bicker because you don'talways see eye to eye, but he always has nothing but love for you. well, do youknow what it means to become an adult? It means there's less and less to smileabout. So we'll have to smile even more, even if we have to force it," she added while patting my shoulder.

we both were too drunk. ae ra took a taxi and went home. now I am all alone. Do you know what's embarrassing and makes yourpride hurt?lacking some skill?not being able to earn money? it's not .fearingsomething once, and being scared of it forever. I was scared of being alone. then, I went to bed but couldn't sleep since I was worried about jungkook. I tried calling him but he didn't pick up. finally, I went to sleep around 2 a.m. 

it was the most stressful sleep I ever had.
