Chapter Four
“Hell won't be so bad, you know. After all, I'll be there to keep you company.”

I’ve been waiting for Derrick to talk to me for two days now, but it’s obvious that he is avoiding me. Stubborn idiot. I figured that since Derrick has been avoiding our dorm that it would be the perfect time to finally talk to Sialla. I dial her number and wait for her to pick up. When I hear the phone being picked up I immediately start talking, not letting whoever picked up even get a word in. “Nathan I know it’s you so give the phone to Sialla. Now!” I hear Nathan sigh and I laugh at him. He is Sialla’s boyfriend and is super over-protective, but to be honest I can’t exactly blame him. Last time I called Sialla up randomly, well let’s just say that I wasn’t alone when I got this scar.
“Come on Anna do you really expect me to just let you Sialla talk in private. Do I need to remind you what happened last time I did?” Well he had a point.
“Fine, just put the damn phone on speaker and be done with it.” I hear a click and then slight static, indicating that Nathan had put the phone on speaker. “Hey Sialla, it’s Anna.”
“Duh.” I hear from the other end. I roll my eyes at her. Oh sister how I have missed you. “So why are you calling, please don’t tell me that because you want to go on another Werewolf hunt. I really don’t want a repeat of that.” I snigger at her then turn serious.
“No. I-it’s about this boy h-” Sialla cuts me off with her squeals
“Does little miss ‘I’m too busy for a boyfriend’ actually like someone? Tell me everything. Is he hot? Does he treat you well? Is he hot? Does he buy you food?” Okay so my sister might be way to into me having a boyfriend but that is probably because I don’t ever, I mean ever I talk to guys unless I’m kicking their asses in training.
“No! Sialla, gosh can you just let me finish my sentence just once? Anyway, as I was saying, there is this guy who can read my rune-” Again Sialla cuts me off with a squeal. Will she ever learn?
“You have a rune?! Why would you not tell me straight away? Gosh Anna what sort of sister are you?” I roll my eyes at her. Why does she have to be so dramatic? What I would give to have a normal sister. Joking, to be honest I don’t think I would trade Sialla for anything in the world.
“Well I thought you would probably guess I mean you were there when I earned it.”
“True.”
“Okay so will you let me continue now?” I hear her nod and I laugh. Oh dear sister. “Okay so again, as I was saying, this boy could read my rune and I wanted to know if either of you – yes Nathan I know you are still there – have heard of an Ignorant being able to read our rune or a Hunter who doesn’t know they are one.” I could almost hear the wheels in my sister brain turning, trying to find an answer. Nathan surprised me when he was the one to speak first.
“I’ve never heard of an Ignorant being able to read a rune. That’s why they are different from us but… Anna how old is this guy?” My face screws up in confusion but I tell him’
“Um… eighteen, why?” He sighs and I can hear him running his hands through his hair. Then Sialla speaks up.
“Anna do you remember a little boy, he was about your age and you guys were friends? I think you called him Rick or something like that.”
“Yeah I do but what does this have to do with Derrick.” There was a moment of silence then Nathan said,
“This boy, his name is Derrick?”
“Yes?”
“Do you happen to know his last name?” I went to speak then stopped. I didn’t. How could I not know my own roommate’s last name?
“Um… no I don’t” I hear Nathan groan in frustration but all I could feel was confusion. “Nathan what’s going on?”
“Look, two years ago Lila Kole was killed in a Werewolf attack at her home. Her body was found but her son, Derrick, who was visiting at the time, seemed to have just disappeared off the face of the Earth. The catch is the Lila never told her son what she was. She was waiting until he was eighteen, something about the less he knew the better, but died before she could tell him.” I tug at my hair in frustration.
“So what you’re telling me is that one of my childhood friends’ mother died, he doesn’t know about Werewolf Hunters, and you think he is my roommate?” I ask him. This is just un-freaken-believable.
“Yeah, pretty much.” I tug at my hair again and sigh; this is just too much for one day.
“Okay well thanks for the help; I’ll see what I can find and get back to you.”
“Okay, bye Anna. Sialla says bye as well.” He obviously took it off speaker phone when he figured out everything. I don’t know why though. Maybe it was easier. I hand up I jump face down on the bed. What next, I find out vampires are real? Give me a break.

Later after a nice and relaxing bath I decide to do some digging. Well not really, I just decided to go through some of Derrick’s stuff to find out his last name. What? It’s important information, to figure out the mysteries of Derrick Something.
The first thing I do is look in his desk draws. I hoped I could find a student I.D or a letter or something but all I find are some empty gum packets and an old deodorant bottle. I try the top of his desk but there isn’t much their either just a couple pieces of blank paper and some random doodles. Looks like Derrick doesn’t like showing much about who he is.
I hit the jackpot in his side table drawers. In the first draw are just some sketch books and a student I.D. I go to pick it up, not hearing the door creak open. I don’t realise Derrick is in the room until I hear him clear his throat. I wipe around and look down guilty. “Why were you going through my private drawers?”
