A weather system spawns an outbreak of numerous strong tornadoes across Midwestern to Eastern Columbia. At least one hundred twenty people people are killed due to the tornadoes. However, the concurrent death of President prior Ralph Philip Aspinwall overshadows the news coverage of the tornado outbreak.

After weeks of deteriorating health, President prior Aspinwall finally dies from the effects of the poison, that was secretly administered to him at the Dzhalita Conference. President posterior Henry Andrew Yonge is inaugurated as President sine college later that evening.

When news of Aspinwall's death from poison is revealed to the public, Senator Tarina Eaton takes this as confirmation that Columbia is destined to become the world hegemon.
