– Colonel Mackenzie?! – William asked a soldier.
– In there! – The other replied pointing to the shelter.
William took the letter from his pocket and tried to enter the shelter, but two soldiers held him back, preventing him from entering.
– LET ME THROUGH! – William shrieked as he tried to break free of the two soldiers.
– Hey! You will not enter!
– I have to talk to Colonel Mackenzie! I have to stop this attack! – He screamed.
William can see another soldier entering the shelter and talking to his colonel.
– Colonel, turn on the beacons. – The same soldier who entered said with the colonel.
– Listen to me, listen to me! I have a letter! I need to see Colonel Mackenzie! – William said.
– No, you will not enter at all!
– Send the second order! – A soldier shouted making William despair.
– NO! – The corporal pushed the two soldiers who were holding him and entered the shelter with his letter in hand. – Colonel Mackenzie! This attack must not proceed! You were ordered to stop! You have to stop!
The colonel who had been talking to other soldiers before turned and eyed William with contempt.
– Who the hell are you? – The colonel asked.
– Lance Corporal Schofield, sir! Eighth! I have orders from General Erinmore to call off this attack! – The boy said doing the usual bow and extending the letter.
– You're too late, Corporal. – The general said with disdain, he just wanted that terrible looking man to get out of his way.
– Sir, these orders are from the command of the army! You have to read them!
– Shall we hold the second wave, sir? – The major asked beside his colonel.
