Sunrise

She was glad she had grabbed Drew's hoodie from the chair before stepping outside. The early morning breeze was chilly and it was leaving goosebumps on her bare legs, but that didn't stop her from sitting in the chair on the balcony, knees up to her chest. Insomnia had been a total bitch to her that past week, not even the tea before bed like her mother suggested was working.

The sky was still dark, stars and the moon still up, but the shade of light blue could already be seen over the yellowish line of the horizon, indicating the start of a new day. That had been the beginning of her days when the idea of sleep completely vanished from her brain and she didn't want to roll around in bed and wake Drew up.

The glass door of the balcony slid open revealing the tall man that shared the undesirable bed with (y/n), his eyes still puffy from sleep.

"There's my hoodie." he said, chuckling, pointing at the oversized piece of clothing. She looked back at him and smiled, extending her hand for him to grab and sit next to her.

"Hi.", she greeted in almost a whisper.

Drew leaned down to peck her lips in a lazy kiss, almost in slow motion, before sitting down.

"So, is this where you go when you get out of bed at this ungodly hour?"

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her until she was half laying on him, her back against his chest and their fingers intertwined over her stomach.

"Yeah, taking advantage of this stupid insomnia to wwatch the sunrise."

"And steal my hoodies."

"Like I need an excuse to do that."

"True." he kissed her temple and tightened his grip around her waist, "You should go see a doctor or something about that, you need to sleep, and it's been a few days."

"I know." she sighed, "But I'm sure if I go see a doctor they'll only prescribe me some sleeping pills and I refuse to become dependent on that."

"Yeah, I know. It sucks." Drew kissed her temple again, letting his lips remain over the spot, "Anything I can do to help?"

She brought their laced hands over to her lips to kiss his knuckles.

"This is fine." she smiled and sighed again, contently.

Drew's lips went down to her cheek, then her jaw, and finally her neck, kissing a few times over her warm skin before going back to holding her close and just snuggle, watching in silence as the sky changed colors.

A few rays of Sun started to make itselves visible over the horizon as it gradually transformed the night into day. (y/n) had forgotten about her cold legs, how could she not when Drew's broad frame held her against him in the warmest embrace? The comfort he projected onto her was like something she had never experienced before and she loved every minute she could spend in his arms or even just sitting close to him. Drew had the type of energy that lighted her up inside, not only from a physical touch, but also from an emotional one.

"Why did you wake up so early by the way?" (y/n) asked.

"Dunno. I just did. And then I noticed you weren't in bed again and decided to come check on you."

She couldn't hold back the smile that grew on her lips and she turned her head to look at him, who did the same.

"What?"

"Nothing." she giggled and pecked his lips, "I love you."

His lips were tight in a shy smile and he was sure the girl could feel his heart beating strongly on her back. Drew could never get used to being loved by (y/n) and he always felt like he could never show her how much he truly loved her and appreciated her. He would choose touch over words, believing it was easier to express his feelings with small actions rather than stumble over his confessions.

(y/n) knew about it, and never did she ever doubt the way he felt, the way he looked at her could be proven to be the same way she looked at the boy. They were tight.

Drew secured her jaw lovingly, his touch soft contrasting with the passion of the kiss he initiated. (y/n) was pulled up to sit on his lap, straddling him, the two kissing and touching each other in the most needy and adoring way. They ignored the sunrise, having each other so close was all they needed to start the day.
