Warnings: mentions of drinking, swearing

.......................................................................

Logan twirled (y/n) around, the sloppy movement made the girl let out a laugh as he pulled her back to him. The music was in no way demanding the kind of dancing the two were doing, but it wasn't like the few drinks they've had already would allow them to slow it down.

Not far from them, Drew danced with his sister Mackayla, who was also having a hard time containing her laughter, along with Brooke, who stood a few feet away from her siblings recording everything with her phone.

The euphoria downed a bit when the vocalist of the band announced the husband-wife dance, making everyone step out of the center of the dance floor to make room for the newly married couple, two of the closest friends of the Starkey family.

Drew took the chance to grab (y/n)'s hand and pull her to his side, circling her waist with his arm. Naturally, she allowed her body to melt into his broad one and rested her head against his shoulder, as they watched in awe the couple dance in front of them and pushing to the back of her brain the picture of it being her and Drew.

(y/n) had never put much thought into marriage, she always intended on letting things happen at the right time and with the right person. But after almost three years (and counting) into a relationship, and witnessing another couple tieing the knot with her boyfriend beside her, she couldn't help but think about the future. A possible future with him.

The loud cheers and applause brought her back to reality and she glanced at the man beside her to see him already looking at her with a cheeky smile decorating his lips. Before (y/n) could ask her boyfriend what he was smiling for, Drew tightened the grip on her waist to close the small distance between them, glueing his lips to hers for a few seconds, until Logan forced himself between the couple to purposely interrupt the display of affection.

"Time for cake my dudes!"

The two rolled their eyes at the interruption but followed the boy to their designated table, where they would be served cake and more drinks.

And a lot of drinks were had, at least Drew, Mackayla and Logan were taking every drink that was offered to them and it was clear some of it was already showing its effects. (y/n) and Brooke remained the most sober but their uplift mood was good competition for the other three's. The youngest Starkey sibling held her phone in front of her and (y/n) for a quick picture, that then turned into multiple pictures, mostly silly ones, and more recording of the remaining Starkey's shenanigans. They were probably the loudest table at that moment, but to be fair, everyone else was also a bit too much into their beverages to even pay the slightest bit of attention to them.

"I'm sweating just from sitting here, I think I'm gonna go outside and catch some air." (y/n) told Brooke, fanning herself with her hand. The brunette girl decided to tag along, saying she was also in a much needed break from the loud party. Before they left, (y/n) kissed Drew on the cheek, letting him know where she was headed, the boy nodded and kissed her cheek back, letting the two girls to make their way outside laughing from the sudden spilt drink over Logan's lap.

It was a warm night, clear sky and full moon. The fairy lights decorating the large garden and the sound of crickets in the distance were inviting, providing a sense of comfort and peace. (y/n) caught herself drifting away from the conversation with Brooke by getting distracted with her surroundings and noticing how happy she felt, how she hadn't felt like that in a long time. Work had been kicking her ass and those were more the hours she spent stressing than resting.

One of the reasons she would let her thoughts wander to what the future with Drew could be was because he was there during those stressful hours, he was patient and knew how to take care of her. He was also there during her free time, always up to the most random and last hour plan she would throw his way to spend time together. Drew was always there and she loved every second of it. He was the one.

"Lover boy coming through!"

"Watch the step, watch the step!"

"God, they're hammered." Brooke commented, as both her and (y/n) watched the Starkey siblings make their way outside in a not so coordinated walk.

"Good thing we're not working tomorrow." (y/n) added, referring to her and Drew, laughing at her boyfriend almost falling after Logan bumped into him.

The three approached the girls, Drew immediately embracing his girl in a tight hug, as if he hadn't seen her in a long time. He kissed her shoulder, her neck, and all the way up to her cheek, leaving multiple kisses there.

"I forgot how needy you are when you're drunk."

He chuckled and nuzzled his head back on her neck, answering with his mouth over her skin.

"M'not drunk."

"Yeah, we'll talk about that tomorrow morning." she patted the back of his head affectionately, earning a childish hum in response.

"We're gonna go back inside." Mackayla announced, smiling at the reunited couple.

Logan winked at (y/n) and pointed at Drew, a take care of him hidden in the gesture. They headed back inside, leaving the couple alone.

After a few seconds of comfortable silence, Drew sighed contently as he tightened his embrace around (y/n), his lips meeting the skin of her neck once again, but this time letting his lips linger over the spot. She hugged him back, the height difference making her arch her back to properly reach his shoulders and respond to his kisses with some of her own on his jaw.

It was a beautiful and tender sight, a garden magically lit and a couple's embrace making the moon and the stars jealous. Their love for each other was like a materialized force clinging to them, anyone around could see it and admire it as if it was a physical presence.

"I love you."

That sentence wasn't anything unheard of before to (y/n), but somehow, it felt different that time. It felt like a promise, if felt like the most certain thing he knew of and the only thing he would ever be sure about. Drew loved her.

(y/n) looked up at him without pulling away and she made sure she was holding his gaze so she could answer.

"I love you." she pecked his lips, "So fucking much." and pecked his lips again, but he didn't let her mouth escape any further from his, wasting no time in holding her head gently in place to deepen the kiss. Their tongues slow danced together, almost matching the rhythm of the slow song playing inside, and if it wasn't for the need of a breathing break, they would have kept dancing, slowly, for the rest of the night.

Drew held her against him again, resting his chin over the top of her head while hers rested on his chest.

"You know," he started, "one day, this is gonna be our day."

(y/n) felt tears forming in her eyes at the same time her mouth curved into a smile, relieved that her new found fantasy wasn't one sided.

"Well, just pop the question, Starkey."

He squeezed her body and kissed the top of her head, and looking up at the stars, holding back his own tears, he answered, disguising his will to reach his new, deepest goal. Marry her.

"Don't tease me, I just might."
