The drinks started to flow, every shot and every swish of the bottle starting to take over our bodies by the hour. "So Jar boo...what's been going on with you and that lover boy of yours?" Jacob asks me. I started to slur my words and my blood got hot " FUCK THAT SON OF A BITCH! He can rot in hell for all I care." I spat out as I aggressively took another shot. "I'm guessing that love fizzled out. Welp another one bites the dust." Liza laughs at me as I clanked my shot glass with hers with this dumb ass grin on my face..at this point I was shitfaced. Within the next hour we decided to play pool to get the party going. "Hey Arby, bring me my good luck charm, my good man."

Arby walks over and lifts up his shirt, revealing his sweaty and hairy pot belly. I smacked my hands on it and started rubbing it in circular motions, making Arby bust out in laughter. I walk back to the pool table and set up to shoot, hitting the cue ball and landing a three way. "Wow, talk about some skills for someone who's barely sober." A male voice speaks from behind me. I turned around to see...who I thought was a gorgeous man, or maybe it was drunk vision. He had to be about 6"4, a short haircut with a face that was chiseled for the gods..his skin was a smooth olive color and he was built like an athlete.

"And you are?" He walks up to sit on the edge of the pool table. "Oh my apologies, names Chris..what's yours?" I quickly get myself together and sober up for a hot second "Jarlene but you can call me Jar if you'd like." My friends decided to disappear in the background, watching me as if it was an amazing scene from a movie. "I'll take note of that..mind if I join you?" Chris asks me. I didn't even hesitate to say yes. We played about 3 games together and I won each one, though I feel like he purposely lost against me. "Damn you're good, but I would like to get to know more of you, other than the fact you're a beast at drunk pool playing." I chuckled at his statement "I don't mind that at all, hell I can teach you some tricks if you let me."

We exchanged numbers and at this point I was ready to go home. We all decided to leave and as we were walking out, I saw him...sitting by his car with a couple of his douchebag friends. I wanted to melt into a puddle and disappear. Chris decided it was best he'd leave alone. "It was nice meeting you guys..especially you Jarlene. Don't forget to give me a call." He gives me a light kiss on the forehead and leaves which made me feel a little better..but not enough to excuse the fact Brandon was right across from me. One of Brandon's friends pointed at me and he turned around, staring into my soul. "Umm I think it's about time for us to go." Liza peeped what was happening but it was too late.

"Well well well, if it isn't my little pain in the ass..looking a little less blue these days." Brandon says as he walks up to us. "What do you mean looking a little less blue?" Liza asked. They all turned to look at me, my blood getting hotter by the second. "Don't start fucking with me, I was just leaving..c'mon guys let's go." I scoffed. "Aww but I don't wanna miss my opportunity to have a little fun with you sweetheart..after all, our last game almost left you breathless." Within seconds , I took a swing at Brandon...he leans over and grunts, spitting blood from out his mouth. "COME HERE YOU LITTLE BITCH!!" Brandon grabs me by my neck again and then...POP...a gunshot noise rings my ears. His grip loosened and he stumbled back, I hear Liza and Alannah scream loudly.

I look up to see a hole between Brandon's eyes, blood gushing from the middle of his forehead. I froze up in a state of shock as I watched him fall to the ground, his life leaving his body. No one knew where the shot had come from nor who shot in the first place. My friends yanked me and we rushed back to our cars to flee the scene. None of us could utter a word or make a sound...I can't even comprehend what the fuck just happened. All I know is that I'm going to have to lay low for a while from this.
