I get off work and make my way back home, getting there within 20 minutes. I go inside and walk into my bedroom to see Chris laying on the bed with headphones in his ears, his arms folded across his chest. He looked like he was thinking about something since his face had no emotion to it. I inched closer to the bed so he could see me, but he paid me no mind. "Okay..I'll just leave him alone." I said to myself as I walked back out. I don't know what's been going on with Chris lately, he's been acting very cold and...suspicious. I texted Liza while I was in the bathroom and updated her on what's been happening.
She texted back: "I don't wanna assume anything, but do you think he actually left that night? Maybe he saw something that we didn't see..maybe he saw the person from a distance and doesn't want to tell you to upset you. But don't ask him upfront just yet, it's just a prediction." I took what she said with a grain of salt and tried not to become a detective about it. Maybe she had a point...I didn't see him go into a vehicle or anything...he just disappeared in the shadows when he left. At the same time, I doubt he would keep something like that from me..he wouldn't. I took my shower and decided to go straight to bed tonight. Chris was still laying there but he took his headphones off this time.
"Sorry I didn't say anything to you when you came in, I was gathering my thoughts." Chris says to me. "Don't worry about it, I'm tired so I'm going to bed." Chris looked at me with a confused look on his face. "Well you can go to sleep, I'll be in the living room." He walked out the bedroom and I started to think of what Liza said to me. He's acting very strange towards me and didn't even bother to ask why I was going to bed so early without even eating anything. I turned my light off and went to sleep, the whole night I didn't feel Chris laying next to me. This was starting to worry me and I hope my gut is not telling me that Chris is keeping this secret to protect me.
The sun started to set and I woke up to Chris still not on his side of the bed. "He probably fell asleep on the couch." I said to myself as I rubbed my eyes to clear my vision. I walked into the living room thinking I would find him there...but he was gone. His glasses on the coffee table was the only thing he left there, but all his belongings were gone. I ran back into my room and noticed his clothes were gone too. I opened the closet...nothing but my stuff was in there. This has taken a deeper turn and something was definitely off about this situation now. My only solution at this point was to dig for the truth.
