He ran. He needed time to collect his thoughts.

He ran towards the woods nearby. It was always quite peaceful there; the birds were always singing, and trees swayed gently in the breeze, and the sound of the river flowing just easily calmed anyone down. He yearned for all those thing. However, luck wasn't on his side.

It was deadly silent. The trees were still. And the atmosphere felt...dangerous. Something in his gut told him that he shouldn't be here, and he should run. He followed his gut instinct and sprinted towards the exit of the woods.

Before he managed to leave, he bumped into an invisible barrier. He groaned in pain as he hit the ground.

Not so fast, little boy.

He looked up in alarm. "Wh-Who's there...?" He called out.

Aww, scared little [REDACTED]. You're not leaving just yet.

He shivered in fear. How did this voice know his name? And why was he stuck here?

"Please...I'm not here to do anything more than calm down! What do you want from me?!" He exclaimed. The voice cackled.

You'll eventually find out.

Then, the mysterious speaker whispered something in an unknown language. Although it was a whisper, he could hear it very clearly. Then, a swarm of flying animals flew at him.

They scratched every bit of exposed skin on him. He screamed and cried for help. It felt like forever until the creatures stopped attacking him, and he covered his face and sobbed for a while before removing his hands and seeing that they were splattered with a mix of blood and tears.

"Why a-are you d-doing this to me?!" He exclaimed, his voice shaky due to so much screaming and crying.

You have proven yourself worthy of being our leader. You survived the bat attack. Therefore we welcome you...our leader forevermore.

A strange, slimy black liquid slithered up his feet, and slowly towards his legs, torso, arms and face. He was so exhausted, and every part of him hurt to the point he can't say anything or do anything about the liquid. He was soon consumed, and fell unconscious. The voice finally left him alone.

When he woke up, the sun had almost disappeared from the horizon. He was no longer the same.

His reign had begun.
