You Ready?

After a long while of recovery, I walked through the kitchen in a long t-shirt, moving around to make five coffees, one extra black, two extra sugar, one no milk, all extra strong. I leaned against the counter, letting my head fall forwards before a pair of arms slipped their way around my waist, one thumb gently rubbing against my bruised ribs.
“Morning princess” Hawk mumbled, pressing a kiss to the back of my head “How’re you feeling?”
“Better” I nodded, turning and pressing a gentle kiss to Hawk’s lips
We pulled apart a little when he heard the bedroom door open, Carmen came out in scrubs, she was already dressed for the day it seems. I gave her a soft smile, finishing up her coffee and handing it to her in a to-go mug.
“Thank you Harley” she smiled
“Of course-”
“Hey hey hey, you don’t leave without giving me a kiss” Dad came barreling out of his bedroom in only his boxers
I chuckled, turning away with Hawk to let them have their adult moment while I finished the four other coffees. I took a sip of my own, handing one to Hawk who happily sucked his burning hot coffee down like it was nothing.
“Have a good day you guys- hey sweetheart”
“Hey mom” Miguel and Carmen greeted each other as they passed in the doorway “You guys ready to go or what?”
I looked around at all of us. Dad was in his boxers, I was only wearing a long t-shirt, and Hawk was just in a pair of basketball shorts.
“Yes, we’re definitely ready” I nodded sarcastically
We all chuckled and went into our respective rooms to get dressed, Miguel made himself at home on the couch and turned on the tv to wait. We all put on very simple things, active wear of course, what else were we gonna wear? After we all got dressed and had eaten and drank out coffees, yes Miguel got his don’t worry.
“Hey, here” Hawk held out a pill bottle for me
I gave Hawk a thankful smile, taking the I.E.D medication with the water on my bedside table before finishing off the water.
We all piled into dad’s car together, picking up a few more kids making it slightly illegal, but oh well. We all carpooled down to the Miyagi-Do dojo, because finally, finally…. We were making progress.
When we got there, all the Miyagi-Do kids were already up and out. Miguel and I were the first to round the corner into the backyard, followed by the rest of Eagle-Fang. It was strange, but it was a good strange.
Hawk and I made our way over to the small little deck Demetri was standing on, both of us pulling him into a hug before standing ready, facing dad and Mr. Larusso. I couldn’t help looking around at everyone, Mitch and Chris…. Bert and Nathaniel…… Miguel and Sam…. We were back together again. We were together.
