Hoshi's mind raced as the image of the powdered drug falling out of her backpack kept playing in his mind. That probably explained why her eyes were bloodshot, why she looked a bit thinner and her voice thick and hoarse. Her body shook as she zipped up her backpack with thin and trembling fingers.

"Adina…" his words were caught off by a hand shoving him away and she scrambled to the door. She couldn't get there in time as she halted and took a step back as a figure appeared through the door, a disgusting smile on his face.

"So you really are back," Brad grinned at Adina who trembled the more. Brad's steel blue looked up and down her tall frame and wrinkled his nose in disgust. "You look horrible. Those rich men you fuck not paying you enough?"

"Leave me alone, Brad," Adina spat. "You got what you wanted, you finally ruined my life, so please leave me alone."

Brad's large fingers clenched around her chin and pulled her face up to his, his fingers tightening till she winced.

"But why would I do that dear Adina?" He chuckled and shoved her away roughly and she slammed against a table and chair, falling to the floor.

Hoshi, deciding that he had seen enough, marched towards Brad and shoved his fist into the side of his face. Brad tumbled back in shock and dangerous eyes turned to look at Hoshi who was breathing heavily and already regretting his decision of hitting Brad but also didn't regret at the same time because he couldn't bear to watch Adina being mistreated by the dick.

"Are you asking for a death wish gangnam style?" Brad spat out a string of blood and wiped his bloody nose. "Why the fuck are you even defending this slut? Didn't you hear what she did to me."

"I'm not Korean," Hoshi flexed his fingers, feeling the stinging pain course through his veins. "And one, I'm defending her because she's not a slut and you have absolutely no right to hit her. Two, I don't actually believe anything that comes out of your mouth."

Brad scoffed. "You must really be stupid to go against me," he said and lunged at Hoshi who dodged and kicked him in the stomach causing Brad to fall flat on his face.

Hoshi grabbed Adina's arm and dragged her out of the class before Brad could get on his feet and think up ways to kill him.

They were out of the school building and in the garden when Adina pulled her arm away from him, causing Hoshi to stop in his tracks and turn to face her.

"I didn't need your help," she said, hugging her backpack to her chest. "I could have handled him myself."

"Well, I've always wanted to punch Brad in the face," Hoshi joked with a shrug. "And I couldn't just watch him treat you like that."

"Thanks, I guess," Adina looked at her backpack then back at Hoshi. "You're not going to say anything about you know what, are you?"

Hoshi gnawed at his lips. "I'm obviously not going to tell anyone," he said. "But I'm not going to just sit back and do nothing clearly knowing you're heading towards the path to destruction."

Adina narrowed her eyes at him. "And why would someone like you care if I'm heading towards the path to destruction?"

"Because I have…" Hoshi held his tongue, not ready to blutter out how he feels about her like this. "Because that's what every decent human being would do."

"Have you ever heard the phrase 'mind your business'?" Adina asked.

"More times than I can count," Hoshi replied.

"Mind your damn business, Hoshi," she tried to walk away but Hoshi grabbed her by the wrist, surprise written on his face that she actually knows his name. "What?"

"One, I don't know how to mind my business," Hoshi answered. "Two, are you okay, Adina? You don't have to tell me what's going on with you but if you need a listening ear, mine are wide open." He released her wrist and got out a piece of paper and pen and quickly scribbled his number on it. He grabbed her arm and put the piece of paper in her palm.

Adina eyed him and just for a second, she wanted to tell this boy who was staring at her with big dark brown eyes what was actually going on in her fucked up life but thought better of it. It was her life and she wasn't going to drag someone who clearly had a good future ahead of him into it. She shoved the paper into her pocket.

"Like I said, mind your business," she turned and walked away feeling the burn from Hoshi's gaze at the back of her head.
