The shrieks of his siblings fell on deaf ears as he gazed at the hilltop. There, a figure stood, dress and hair rippling in the wind. Though unidentifiable, he felt a certainty that he knew this person, and they knew him. They stood amidst crumbling stone ruins, overgrown with flora and darkened by time. This puzzled the boy, able to recall neither the figure nor the ruins.
"Where do you suppose we are?" Edmund frowned, turning to his siblings.
"Well, where do you think?" Peter laughed. Edmund turned back, but the figure was gone.
"Well, I don't remember any ruins in Narnia." The other Pevensies caught Edmund's gaze, frowning as they made their way up the shoreline.

The apple was crunchy and sweet. Perfect, just like everything else in this magical land. Lucy smiled as she wandered beneath the trees.
"I wonder who lived here." She spoke. A soft exclamation came from behind her as Susan bent to pick up the small, shiny object that was the cause of her near fall.
"I think we did."
"Hey, that's mine, from my chess set!" Edmund took the small knight from his sister.
"Which chess set?" Peter smiled.
"Well, I didn't exactly have a solid gold chess set in Finchley, did I?"
Lucy frowned as she locked eyes with a stone platform, overlooking the beach where they had been not half an hour before. Her eyes scanned the view, something so familiar about it. A soft intake of breath could be heard as her eyes grew wide in excitement and upset. The apple in her hand tumbled to the ground, landing in a small pile of unnoticed ash.
"It can't be." but she knew. The cries of her eldest brother went unnoticed as she ran to a stone foundation in the centre of the ruins. "Don't you see?" she asked as her eldest siblings caught up to her.
"What?" Peter frowned.
"Imagine walls," She dragged him to the centre of the old dais. "and columns, there," Susan and Edmund now stood on opposite sides of Peter. "and a glass roof." she finished, taking her rightful place next to Susan. She could see the look of understanding that dawned on Peter's face as he surveyed the scene.
"Cair Paravel."
--
"Catapults." Edmund placed his hand on a broken wall.
"What?" Peter turned away from the crumbling window he stood at.
"This didn't just happen. Cair Paravel was attacked." The silence that followed was deafening, but short-lived. The only standing wall was the first place they ran to, pushing the stone aside in a rush to make sure their special place was protected. The wooden wall was thick with vines, but Peter was quick to bust the rotting wood with a stick, no-one noticing the hand-sized hole hidden in the vines. He tore a piece off his shirt, wrapping it around said stick to create a makeshift torch, to guide them through the dark staircase.
"I don't suppose you have any matches in there, do you?" he asked, gesturing to Edmund's satchel.
"No..." Edmund frowned "but would this help?" Peter scoffed at the shiny silver torch clutched in his brother's hand.
"You might've mentioned that a bit sooner!" He laughed, the others joining in as Edmund led them down the stairs to the treasure chamber below. A wave of relief rushed through each of them as it looked to be in perfect condition.
"I can't believe it. It's all still here." Peter smiled as he sifted through his various belongings.
"I was so tall." Lucy smiled wistfully, holding a dress that trailed far along the ground.
