A/N: I'll get back to posting chapters for this book bc I don't want to leave it unfinished lol. Srry it took a while, I was busy with life stuff and completely lost track of time with this. Thank you for your patience!
Also, because the traveler is in this chapter, I decided to leave it gender neutral so you can decide wether you want to imagine it as Lumine or Aether.
When Chongyun rounds the corner to seat himself at the table, he noticed Xingqiu's grin.
"W-what's that big grin for?" He asked.
"Yu-Yu, were you talking about me with Xiangling?" The other said teasingly.
"Wait, did you hear that whole conversation?!"
"Not the whole thing, but I did catch my name once or twice. Soooo, what was it about?"
Chongyun struggled to find an excuse. "W-we just talked about how our days were, that's all."
This time it was Xingqiu's turn to get worried.
"You didn't talk about me that much, did you?" He questioned cautiously. If Xiangling found out about his earlier stunt, she'd surely bring it up later.
Chongyun just shrugs as a half-hearted answer when he notices that their food is coming.
"It wasn't that important." He finished, ending the conversation and turning his attention to his food.
**********************************************
The following week, after Chongyun's had the opportunity to live with his newfound feelings for his best friend, he realizes he might just be a teensy bit head over heels for him.
Every small gesture Xingqiu did now was like a blatant "I like you" in disguise that Chongyun was disappointed in himself for not realizing earlier.
He waited another week before coming back to visit Xiangling and ask for her assistance. After mustering up the courage, he stumbled back into Wanmin Restaurant and called her name.
"Hiya Chongyun! Oh, are you here about the "Xingqiu Situation"?" She asked, whispering the final part so only the two could hear.
"Yes." He states, this time leaning against the wall and pulling out a popsicle.
"I think, maybe, that I'm ready to tell him."
Xiangling's smile is a mile wide as she proceeds to look down to Guoba, who Chongyun assumes is also smiling.
"Did you hear that Guoba? It's finally happening! Now we won't have to listen to Xingqiu coming in about it all the time!"
Guoba eyes curve happily and Xiangling then turns to one of the blue-haired boys in question.
"First, before you even say anything to him about that, you should take him on a date." She says, trying to repress her overflowing excitement.
"Why?"
"To set the mood, and, y'know, give him a few hints about how you feel before you actually go through with it."
"Alright, but I don't know the first thing about dates." Chongyun huffs defeatedly.
"Neither do I..." Xiangling says, her mood deflating before quickly rekindling.
"Oh! I think I know someone who might know a thing or two about this! They're practically an expert in everything, I'm sure they know a thing or two about dating."
"Who's that?" He asks.
"Hold on a sec, I'll go get them!" Xiangling shouts as she ducks out of the restaurant and down the street.
After a couple minutes, and well after Chongyun had finished his popsicle to ward of the heat, a familiar face with blonde hair and their flying companion followed Xiangling back into the kitchen.
"I bumped into Traveler yesterday when they came back from Inazuma! I'm sure they can help us!"
Paimon looked between the two of them.
"Help with what?""Oh-" she turned to Chongyun. "Are you okay with me telling them?"
He nodded, and Xiangling proceeded to tell the Traveler and Paimon about their predicament.
"I see. I think I can help you out." They said as they took a seat on the stool Chongyun had used weeks prior.
"First you should pick a location. Where do you think he'd want to go?"
"Probably a library. But he's already been to the one here in Liyue plenty of times, even if he never gets bored of it."
"How about you take him to the big library in Mondstadt then? I know the quickest way there." The Traveler suggested.
"Is it even bigger than Wanwen bookhouse?"
"Much bigger."
Chongyun brightened and smiled a bit. "We'll go there then. He is going to Mondstadt to see Albedo in a couple of days..."
Traveler gave them both a thumbs up. "Alright. Second, since this date is kind of a set up for actually confessing from what you told me, make sure the place is cleared of people or distractions. Then, whenever the perfect moment comes, you can tell him."
"How will I know when that is?" The icy-haired boy asked anxiously.
"You'll know. I Promise." Traveler reassured him.
"Finally, when it actually comes time for the date, you should bring him something, like a gift. From the dates I've been on, usually I give them something or they give me something."
"Yeah!" Paimon pipes up. "With as close as you two are, you should have no trouble at all getting him something!"
Chongyun pondered it for a moment. "I don't think silk flowers would still be in perfect condition by the time we arrived, and he's read pretty much every book I could ever get him..."
"I know plenty of people in Mondstadt, Chongyun. Just mention my name if you still can't come up with something and someone will help you." Traveler says.
He nodded and breathed a sigh of both relief and anxiousness.
"Alright, I think I've got it all. It's just, how do I bring up a date topic?"
"You said he was going up to Mondstadt to see someone named Albedo, didn't you?" Xiangling inquired.
"Mmhm."
"Just tag along with him and ask him one day! If you're really scared, ask him on his way to see this guy so he can think about it and you don't have to confront him right away!"
"That's a solid plan. Besides, there's no such thing as a perfect confession. Whatever happens, happens. You've got this!" Traveler gives him another thumbs up.
"Yeah! Paimon knows you can do it! Besides, I don't think Guhua Geek would be mean about it if he did turn you down."
Chongyun nodded, dismissing the peculiar nickname. "Thanks you guys. I'll be sure to repay you in the future for your help."
"No need! We're glad to help!" Xiangling smiled, hands on her hips.
The conversation ended and Traveler and Paimon left, off to some other adventure. Xiangling continued her cooking, and Chongyun headed off to go see Xingqiu and propose the idea of tagging along with him.
"I can do this." He thinks to himself. "There's no way this can go wrong."
"Right?"
