Albedo continued to ask Chongyun questions about his constitution, and he found the topic intriguing.
He had wanted to do some testing on him, but the cryo boy declined, saying he didn't want to purposefully overheat.
Albedo accepted his wishes, and listened to the questions he had in return.
"Xingqiu told me you'd know the whereabouts of evil spirits." Chongyun said, excitement rising in his voice.
Confused, Albedo turned to Xingqiu with a questioning glance, but he only looked off to the side, pretending to admire the scenery.
Albedo turned back to Chongyun. "I'm sorry, but I am not familiar of any places evil spirits might be, let alone one's strong enough to fight your constitution. But, if you'd like to go explore DragonSpine for a little while, you can go on abead."
"Really? Then I'll back back soon."
Albedo and Xingqiu watched the other descend the mountain until he was out of sight, the last trace of him being his light blue hair disappearing around the corner.
"Xingqiu, if you don't mind me asking, are you and that boy dating, by any means?"
Bewildered and too stunned to speak, Xingqiu stared up at Albedo with no words.
"I simply ask because of his mannerisms. If anything, it seems like he's oblivious to your advances."
That was one thing Xingqiu never missed about Albedo: he was scarily observant and almost always knew exactly what was going on.
How the chief alchemist knew all of this based purely off of an assumption, he would never know.
"Well I'm afraid that even if I do, we're here to talk about my novel, yes? I don't want to waste any of our time with such trivial matters." Xingqiu laughed nervously.
"It's no trouble at all. I'm seeing you again tomorrow anyways. But, if the topic is rather uncomfortable for you, I will gladly drop it." Albedo replied (again, reading his mind).
Sighing, Xingqiu kicked away a small drift of snow at his feet, entering further into Albedo's lab for warmth.
"It isn't necessarily that it makes me uncomfortable, it's just that it's a confusing subject to me. I'm not even sure how you could aid me in that field, Mr. Kreideprinz. As far as I know, you're not in any relationship, nor do you seem like the romantic type." He finished, sitting on an open chair.
"Actually," Albedo starts, sitting across from him and rearranging his notes, "I do have a romantic relationship with the Cavalry Captain, and a platonic one with Klee, a young girl who I consider my younger sister. Though Kaeya was the one who verbally expressed feelings first, based off of his actions I had already assumed we harbored the same feelings."
"How is he so observant?! I must remind myself to keep that thought in mind." Xingqiu mentally noted.
"I never took you as the type, Mr. Kreideprinz. Though as the saying goes, "never judge a book by its cover". Xingqiu smiled.
"But, if I may, how are you going to help me?"
"We can discuss that now, if you'd like, then continue our work after." Albedo suggested.
Xingqiu agreed to their arrangement, and the two started discussing the 'Xingyun Situation' (as Kaeya later dubbed it when Albedo told him about it).

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Kreideprinz." Xingqiu nodded, patting his dejected (boy)friend on the back. He had returned empty handed from his short trip, and wasn't enthused with the results.
"Yes, thank you. And if ever you find any leads of evil spirit whereabouts, do let me know." Chongyun added.
"I will, and you're welcome." Albedo replied (he knew of Xingqiu's antics, and was told to just go along with it).
"Well then, we'll be off. I will see you tomorrow, Mr. Kreideprinz!" Xingqiu waved as they walked off down the mountain.
Albedo watched the two until they were out of sight.
Tomorrow, Xingqiu had informed him that only he was coming, and thus it was the perfect opportunity to come up with a confession plan, all unbeknownst to Chongyun.

I had zero motivation for this chapter so that's why it took so long and why it's so short 🧍♀️
The next chapter will feature our Mondstadt friend, who's gonna help out Chongyun for most of the chapter!
