Chapter 10

Mia's pov
It's been a week since our pool day and Jaden and nessa along with the rest of the gang have been busy trying to find Cameron since he disappeared after breaking into the warehouse and Jaden doesn't like not knowing where his enemies are. So with them being busy I have been on my own a majority of the day since griffin is busy helping he hasn't been able to train me which is fine considering I also haven't been eating the last couple days either so it's not like I am in the best shape regardless... I know I shouldn't be starving myself but after doing more research on how famous ness and the girls actually are I have come to the conclusion that if I am ever going to be in the public eye then I have to look the part too and I can't do that if I start getting fat so I have resulted in going downstairs with Jaden and ness when they wake up, walking into the kitchen and pretending like I am grabbing the food that Rafe made and then when they leave I put the empty plate back in it's place and no one suspects a thing, then for lunch I don't even have to worry because no one has been around and dinner I can just pretend like I had it since Jaden and Nessa have been coming home late so I just tell them I ate whatever Rafe cooked that night before they came home and they believed me and so far my plan is working.

Jaden: hey baby girl (walks over to Mia and wraps his arms around her waist)
Mia: hey daddy (says innocently)
Jaden: (groans) don't call me that when you know it turns me on
Mia: isn't that a good thing?
Jaden: not when we have stuff to do today
Mia: and by we do you mean you and nessa?
Jaden: nope I mean we as in the three of us because today you are coming to the warehouse with us
Mia: why...
(Nessa walks out of the bathroom and towards the two of of them)
Nessa: because we realized that we left you alone this week and if you come with us we can work and spend time with you at the same time
Mia: uh okay sounds good.. I'll go get ready
Jaden: okay meet us downstairs for breakfast (pecks her lips)
Mia's pov
Well there's go my streak of not eating for a week down the drain but maybe I can figure out something at breakfast to make it look like I was actually eating.. I'll figure something out, I stopped thinking about it and walked into my closet and picked out black lace up leather pants and a light gray butterfly long sleeve crop top with some high tops and then just put my hair half up half down and walked downstairs to see everyone was downstairs sitting at the table. I walked over to Avani and Dixie and grabbed  a plate and started putting some of the fruit on it along with a waffle that was there and then walked over to Jaden who was talking to josh and ness who was talking to Sab so I just took the seat next to her. Ten minutes later they were talking about work and I was looking down at my plate and grabbed the fork and grabbed a piece of the strawberry that was on my plate and brought it up to my lips when Jaden looked at me from the corner of his eye and I opened my mouth and then he looked away so I placed the fork back on the plate and cut it into a tiny piece I did that with the waffle too and when everyone was distracted I got up and threw it in the trash and put my plate in the sink and sat back down when ness turned to look at me.

Nessa: finished?
Mia: hmm
Josh: alright then let's go because we have a lot to today
Bryce: are we taking the van today or separate cars?
Jaden: let's go in the van it'll be easier
Griffin: okay
Mia's pov
We left the house and walked towards the driveway and got in the van that said "triller", I was about to ask but then I remembered josh has some kind of business partnership with them and I just stayed quiet. It was a pretty big van given the amount of people we were but the girls had to sit on their boyfriends laps except for ness who had her own chair next to Jaden so I just sat on her lap this time since I always sit with Jaden. Her arms wrapped around my waist and griffin started driving and I was just looking outside lost in my thoughts until I felt a hand on my thigh which brought me out of my bubble and looked over at Jaden.

Jaden: babe you good? Your spacing out a lot
Mia: yeah I am good
Jaden's pov
I looked at Mia after she said that and I couldn't help but notice that she looked a little pale but she hasn't been in the sun in a couple days so that's probably why and she says she's fine so I guess I'll take her word for it. Thirty minutes later we pull up to the house and we all get out, Ness goes with the girls to train one on one and I give Mia a quick tour and then lead her back to the girls since she's going to be training with them today.

Nessa: alright so today we are doing one on one combat no boxing gloves or gear just your legs and fists
Sabrina: ness and I will show you guys the moves first and then call two of you to try them
Nessa: alright let's go
Mia's pov
I watched ness and Sab put their hair into a ponytail and then get into a fighting stance ness went to strike Sab across the face but Sab dodged it and was about to kick ness in the stomach when ness grabbed her leg and flipped her onto the Mat.

Nessa: alright let's start there who's first?
Amanda: I'll go
Sab: okay go up against Julie
Julie: gladly
Mia's pov
Amanda and Julie were up next and they started sparring for a few minutes before Amanda flipped Julie onto the mat.

Sab: ness what do you say we make this more interesting
Nessa: what do you have in mind?
Sab: let's let Amanda stay on the mat until someone flips her and then that person will stay and so on
Nessa: okay that works.. Mia your up
Mia: me?
Nessa: yeah you have to learn to defend yourself too step on the mat
Mia: (sighs) okay, but I don't know the first thing about one on one combat
Nessa: you fought your foster parents a few times didn't you?
Mia: yeah but that was because they were high and drunk it was easy sometimes I don't know how to fight let alone someone who has experience
Nessa: that's okay I'll help you get into position and then it's all about following your instinct (walks over to her and stands behind her) first fix your posture you don't want to be standing completely straight because your bones will be locked and you need to be flexible so bend a your body and arms like this
Mia's pov
Ness gently grabbed my arms and put them in front of my chest before putting my hand into fists then she brought her leg in between mine and gently pushed them away from each other so that they were shoulder length apart and then she leaned towards my ear and whispered.

Nessa: remember follow your instincts (pecks her on the cheek and stands next to sab)
Amanda: since your new I'll go easy on you
Sabrina: no her attacker isn't going to go easy on her just because she's new to this, give it all you got.. both of you
Amanda: okay
Mia's pov
Amanda started coming at me and before I could even stop myself I was flashing back to the time I was four years old and my foster mom was walking towards me to hit me because I spilled the carton of milk trying to get myself some cereal and I couldn't help it but flinch and put my hands in front of me.

Nessa: (sighs) Mia come back to us it's okay your fine you are safe
Mia: n no she's g going t to hurt me
Dixie: maybe she's not ready for this yet ness..
Nessa: you're probably right (looks at mia) its your first day I should have just let you watch instead of push you, I am sorry (hugs her)
Mia: it's okay (whispers)
Nessa: you sure? (Looks into her eyes)
Mia: yeah (nods)
Nessa: okay why don't you go train with griffin and josh they are working out it might be better for you
Mia: n no I can d do it I p promise
Nessa: babe it's okay if you aren't so just go work with griffin and josh okay? You'll benefit better by working on your stamina and resistance than just watching us... next time you can watch okay?
Mia: (sighs) okay
(Mia walks away from the girls and goes towards josh and griffin who are with Kio, Cooper and Blake)
Kio: remind me why I am here and not in the computer room?
Griffin: because you at least have to have stamina if someone tries to come at you and you can run
Kio: if I am supposed to run then why am I doing sit ups right now?
Josh: alright Kio you want to run instead of warm up go for it give me seven miles but I guarantee you'll pass out by the fifth because your body won't be able to handle it
Kio: you know what, fuck you josh (flips him off)
Josh: okay give me an extra thirty sit ups (looks at Mia) what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with the girls
Mia: uh n n ness sent m me h here b because I g got t triggered on t the mat
Josh: alright start some stretching exercises then
Mia's pov
Fine by me I sat flat on the concrete and started stretching my legs when all of a sudden my legs felt stiff and I thought maybe they had just randomly fell asleep but then my vision got dizzy and my breathing became uneven and I wasn't sure what the hell was happening but I knew it wasn't normal and I had to try and get one of the boys attention.

Mia: Griffin!
Griffin: yeah (walks over to her) what's wrong?
Mia: m my legs they just went stiff I don't know why and my vision got blurry for a minute
Griffin: did you hit your head at any point when you were sparring?
Mia: no
Griffin: did you pull something when you stretched?
Mia: I don't think so
Griffin: okay is your vision still blurry?
Mia: no
Griffin: okay I am going to try something to see if I can help your leg
Mia: okay
Griffin's pov
I looked at her legs and it didn't look like anything was out of place, then I looked at her hand that was on the side of her hip and it jerked.

Griffin: Mia did you just move your hand?
(Mia doesn't respond and looks straight ahead)
Griffin: Mia can you hear me? What's wrong does something hurt?
(Mia still doesn't respond but her eyes roll to the back of her head and before she could hit the concrete griffin holds out his hand to stop her and her body starts convulsing)
Griffin: shit! Josh go get Jaden and Nessa! Kio call 911 tell them to get an ambulance and tell them to use the driver named Nick
Kio: on it! (Pulls his phone out)
Josh: what the hell happened! (Looks at her)
Griffin: she's having a seizure go get Jaden and Nessa
Josh: okay okay (starts jogging in Jaden's direction first)
Griffin's pov
I laid Mia on her side and looked at my smart watching timing the seizure it had been two minutes already, it should only last one more minute if not we are in trouble. I told Cooper to get me a pillow so I could lay her head on it and a few seconds later he came back with the pillow and josh came back with Jaden and Nessa who looked horrified. I looked at the watch and she had ten seconds to stop seizing before it gets really dangerous and three seconds later her body finally stopped convulsing. I laid her head down on the pillow while Bryce grabbed my stethoscope so I could check her heartbeat which was normalizing which meant that she was just passed out and should wake up soon.

Jaden: please tell me she's okay
Griffin: she will be, her heart rate is going back to normal but she's still going to need to have some tests done to figure out what happened
(The ambulance arrives and a guy steps out)
Nick: hey griffin what do we got? (Lifts Mia onto the stretcher)
Griffin: sixteen year old with a seizure
Nick: was this her first time?
Griffin: I don't know but with us yeah
Nick: does she have a history with drugs?
Nessa: no
Nick: okay (gets her in the ambulance) one person can ride but the others need to follow
Nessa: (looks at Jaden) you go
Jaden: are you sure?
Nessa: yeah go
Jaden: okay (pecks her on the lips and gets in the ambulance) see you at the hospital
Nessa: okay
Jaden's pov
I sat down in the ambulance and held Mia's hand and started stroking her skin while Nick lifted the sleeve of her opposite arm and that's when I saw the red lines on her wrist, they weren't sharp enough to be from a blade but they weren't old either...

Nick: I am guessing you weren't aware of the scratches on her arm..
Jaden: no (traces his hand over one) damnit it Mia why didn't you just tell us (kisses her scratch)
Nick: what's your relationship to her?
Jaden: she's my girlfriend
Nick: oh I thought the other one was
Jaden: she is too, we are in a poly relationship
Nick: oh my bad I am sorry for asking..
Jaden: no it's okay you were just curious Mia's pov
I felt my eyes flutter open and I looked around to notice that I was moving wait no I wasn't moving a car was moving and it didn't look like the triller van. I instantly was about to start panicking until I felt the soft rhythm of circles being on my hand and looked over to see Jaden who noticed I was awake.

Jaden: oh thank god your okay (kisses the top of her head repeatedly) I was so worried
Mia: what happened?
Nick: you had a seizure what was the last thing you remember?
Mia: my legs becoming stiff and my vision becoming blurry
Nick: okay have you ever had a seizure before?
Mia: no
Jaden: Mia look at me (moves her head so she looks at him face to face)
Jaden: are you sure?
Mia: yeah... at least I think so, I don't remember ever having a seizure before..
Nick: okay well we are almost to the hospital and they'll run some tests there to find out what was wrong
Mia: h h hospital? N n no I can't I can't (starts breathing heavy)
Jaden: hey hey calm down don't stress yourself out right now (strokes her hand)
Mia: Jaden I can't go to the hospital (looks at him) what if (whispers) CPS finds out
Jaden: they won't Griffin is going to be the one running the tests and Nick works for us too you'll be fine
Mia: promise?
Jaden: yes now lay down and just rest everything's going to be okay
Mia: okay (lays down on the pillow and closes her eyes again)
Jaden's pov
Once Mia was calmer I took out my phone to send a group text letting them know Mia was awake and conscious, and five minutes later we arrived at the hospital. Nick led us to the back entrance of the hospital and put the gurney down and then led us into one of the rooms. I picked up Mia and laid her down in the hospital bed and then helped her change into the gown before griffin walked in with the rest of the guys.

Five minutes later
(The door opens and griffin walks in with nessa, Bryce, josh and Julie)
Jaden: where are the others?
Griffin: in the van, hospital room isn't big enough for all of us
Jaden: true
Griffin: (looks at Mia) how do you feel?
Mia: better... I think
Griffin: any stiffness? Headaches or dizziness?
Mia: not right now
Griffin: okay so what I am going to do is hook you up to some cables that's going to let me see your brain activity since that's usually where seizures tend to be triggered
Mia: I I is it g going to h hurt?
Griffin: no it's just a couple sticky pads going on your head it might look a little scary but I promise it's not going to hurt
Mia's pov
I whimpered after griffin said that mainly because I hate anything remotely related to doctors and needles, but I didn't want to show it so instead I squeezed Jaden and Nessa's hand since each of them were standing close to me trying to comfort me.

Nessa: it's okay love (pecks her on the forehead) everything is going to be okay
Mia: (sighs) okay
Griffin's pov
I hooked up the monitor and then placed the sticky pads onto Mia's head two on her forehead and two on each side of the back of her head and a few moments later I was looking at her brain activity. I could see she had an absent seizure an hour before her actual seizure but there was no indication of any problems with her neurons that would make it epilepsy, so if it's not epilepsy then what is it? I started thinking about how she was home alone this week and I realized I should probably ask her some questions especially because Nick told me about the scratches on her arms too.

Griffin: Mia did you have any anxiety attacks when you were alone this week?
Mia: no...
Griffin: what about the scratches on your arms?
Mia: w what scratches?
Jaden: don't even think about lying I saw them In the ambulance and they aren't old
Mia's pov
Shit shit shit I am caught there's no way they aren't going to find out about my habits and the fact that I didn't eat this week... should I come clean or let them figure it out themselves?

Nessa: Mia answer the question, why are there scratches on your arm? (Looks at her)
Mia: I I it's a habit of mine w w whenever I get lost in my thoughts or have a flashback i scratch my arms to get out of it.. (looks down)
Jaden: why didn't you tell us that a week ago when we asked you if you were hiding anything?
Mia: I d d didn't want t to tell you
Jaden: that's not a good enough reason is there anything else you need to tell us Mia? And I advise you to speak up now before you get in even more trouble
Mia: (sighs and whispers) ihavebeenstarvingmyselffortwoweeks
Nessa: what was that?
Mia: I haven't been eating these last two weeks...
Griffin: that would explain it then the levels of stress due to the anxiety and lack of food in your system triggered the seizure which is why you've never had one before (starts unhooking the monitor) I am going to get you some juice and a sandwich from the cafeteria and then we can talk about what our next steps are (walks out of the room)
Nessa: guys can you give us a minute alone with Mia?
Julie: yeah of course come on guys
Mia's pov
I looked down at the hospital blanket in front of me and started playing with it because it seemed like the better option then looking at both Jaden and nessa who I could feel were trying to keep their anger in Check but none the less were still staring at me, waiting to see if I would have the courage to look at them.. which I didn't. A minute later I heard Jaden sigh and feel his hand gently lift my chin up so I could look him in the eyes. His crystal blue eyes that were now filled with hurt and anger but still love... I think or at least I hope.

Jaden: why didn't you tell us sooner and don't give me some bull shit answer because it's just going to make me angrier and your punishment when we get home even worse
Mia: I I didn't w want you to be m more of a b b burden and d disappoint you o on top of it (tears up) I am sorry (cries)
Nessa: (pulls her in for a hug) babygirl you aren't a burden or a disappointment I promise
Mia: y yes I I am look at m me
Jaden: you are struggling and that's okay but what isn't okay is you not speaking up and lying about it
Nessa: Jaden I think she gets the point (kisses the top of her head)
Jaden: regardless of all that we still love you and I am so glad your okay (pecks her on the lips)
Mia: really?
Jaden: yeah I don't know what I would do if I lost you, you help ness and I feel complete In our relationship and that's why I don't ever want you to think you are a burden is that understood?
Mia: yes Jaden
Jaden: good then we can talk about the other half of it at home okay?
Mia: okay
(Griffin opens the door holding an apple juice and a sandwich)
Griffin: it's not much but it'll due for now until you are back at home
Mia: a a am I g going to have to stay here?
Griffin: normally I'd say yes but In this case the seizure wasn't caused due to epilepsy so you can go home after eating and while you eat we can talk about how things are going to work for the time being, but we'll wait for the rest of the group to be here
Jaden: shouldn't we just wait till we are back at the triller van and have a team meeting?
Griffin: we can do that too
Nessa: then let's do that because everyone should be aware of what's happening, I don't want to end up back here for the same reason (looks at Mia) is that understood?
Mia: yeah
Nessa: good
Mia's pov
I lightly took a sip of my juice and started nibbling on my sandwich while I tried to ignore the thoughts in my head that told me I shouldn't be eating but I forced myself anyway. I didn't want to make them upset anymore and ten minutes later I was finished, Griffin signed some stuff and then took the Iv out of me which resulted in me looking away from the needle while he did it and then Jaden helped me off the bed and helped me change out of the hospital gown and carried me to the triller van where the rest of the group is.

Quinton: is she allowed to come home she just had a seizure?
Griffin: yeah but it was due to lack of nutrition and stress which can also be triggers so she'll be fine
Avani: well that's good
Julie: so what happens now?
Griffin: now we have to make sure this doesn't happen again so in order to do that (looks at Mia) you can't be left alone anymore until we trust that you won't hurt yourself anymore and that includes scratching yourself
Addison: you did what?
Mia: past habit I can't seem to break (looks down)
Amanda: hey it's okay we'll help you (smiles at her)
Mia: thanks (gives a small smile)
Kio: what else do we have to do?
Griffin: every time she eats someone has to stay with her and no going to the bathroom an hour until after she eats and even then no locking the door, you can close it obviously but there is no locking it and you will follow this routine until we say otherwise is that understood?
Lexie: yes (whispers)
Jaden: speak up
Lexie: yes (says louder)
Jaden: good
Nessa: and we are going to add one more rule
Mia: what?
Jaden: every morning and every night you show us your arms if you feel triggered to scratch yourself you call one of us if ness and I are busy you get one of the guys clear?
Mia: hmm (mumbles)
Nessa: words Mia
Mia: (sighs) okay yeah I get it I promise
Jaden: good then we are all on the same page right guys?
Guys: yeah
Mia's pov
I sighed and leaned my head against the window processing the long lasting hole I just put myself in and I am not happy about it. I can't believe I let myself get exposed to the point where I had a seizure and now I am not going to have an ounce of space which is going to make me feel suffocated and when I feel suffocated... let's just say things go from bad to worse really quick, but I didn't want to think about that right now and instead laid my head on ness's shoulder and closed my eyes. The next time I woke up I was in the bedroom with Jaden and ness cuddling me and watching something on the tv until they noticed I was awake.

Nessa: hey sleeping beauty
Mia: hi (smiles)
Jaden: how did you sleep?
Mia: good.. are you still mad at me? (Looks at him with puppy dog eyes)
Jaden: (sighs) yes and no but we don't have to talk about that today, I am just glad you are home and you didn't need to stay in the hospital overnight or something (hugs her)
Mia: me too
Nessa: do you want to shower? Because no offense babe but you smell like hospital
Mia: (laughs) yeah I probably should.. I'll be right back (gets off the bed)
Jaden: wait (pulls her back) do you want us to go with you?
Mia: no I'll be quick I promise, I just want to spend the rest of the night cuddling with you guys
Jaden: okay but no locking the door remember?
Mia: yeah don't worry
Jaden: okay while you shower I'll have Rafy make teriyaki chicken with rice how does that sound?
Mia: okay
Mia's pov
I got off the bed and walked to the drawer and pulled out Nessa's red oversized hoodie with black sweats then grabbed my underwear from my drawer and walked into the bathroom and stripped out of my clothes that they probably changed me into after the hospital, I turned on the water and decided to just take a shower because the quicker I get this done with the less of a chance my mind has at attacking me. So instead of thinking about anything I focused on grabbing the bar of soap and washing myself, then grabbed the shampoo and last but not least the conditioner and last but not least rinsed my hair and didn't even bother soaking in the hot water because that's when my thoughts start to drift so I just turned the faucet off and wrapped myself around with a towel and dried off and then wrapped my hair into the towel, got dressed and then walked out of the bathroom to join them on the bed.

Jaden's pov
Mia laid down in the middle of while ness was playing the vampire diaries and I couldn't help but notice her body was tense against mine so I figured I could help her relax.

Jaden: sit up babygirl
Mia: why (whines)
Jaden: because I am going to give you a massage come here, and sit front of me
Mia: okay (gets up from her spot and sits in front of him)
Jaden's pov
I started moving rubbing my hands on her shoulders adding a little bit of pressure to release the tension in her shoulders for a few minutes before Rafy came in with dinner and set it up on the mini table we had in our room. I thanked her and the three of us went to sit down, I pulled Mia on my lap because I knew she was probably going to try and put up a fight with me but when I picked up her fork and placed it in front of her lips she just opened her mouth and took a bite.

Jaden: you aren't going to fight with me?
Mia: no.. I already made you mad enough today (looks down and plays with her fingers)
Jaden: babygirl I already told you that I am not mad anymore, I was earlier today because you didn't tell us and I was a little disappointed you felt like you couldn't trust us but I am not mad anymore
Mia: promise (looks at him)
Jaden: promise
Mia: okay (pecks him on the lips) I love you guys..
Nessa: we love you too sweetheart
Mia's pov
After another episode of the vampire diaries my eyes started feeling drowsy and I closed my eyes cuddling up against Jaden who had his arms protectively around my waist.
