When I got home, I noticed a yellow viper in our huge driveway. Did I mention we were rich? We moved here to LA because my dad got a huge promotion in his job, which pays really well. Anyway, as soon as I saw the yellow viper, I knew instantly who it was. It was Aaron’s jerk of a best friend, Caiden Parker. He is one of the biggest players at school. I came in to see Caiden walking out of the kitchen holding a bag of Doritos. I closed the door behind me and he turned his head towards me.

“Hey Rose!” He said with a mouthful of chips. I rolled my eyes and walked to the living room and saw my brother sitting on the couch playing black ops. Oh, typical boys and their video games, but I’ve got to admit, I’m pretty good at it. I’m probably better than Aaron. Of course, Caiden doesn’t know that. My brother noticed me instantly and he paused the game.

“Hey sis! Wanna join?” he asked.

“Sure,” I said, grabbing a remote.

“hey, man, you’re going to let your sister play? She’ll die in the first few seconds.” Caiden said as he walked into the room. Aaron and I shared a look.

“Don’t underestimate me,” I told him.

“Well, okay then, but I won’t go easy on you,” he told me. I looked at my brother, and he looked amused to see how this will end up. He knows how good I am at this game. I play with him when he’s bored and his friends can’t come over.

“That’s fine. I won’t go easy on you either,” I retorted.

“Let’s begin, shall we?” Aaron asked. I nodded, ready to ruin Caiden’s little ego.

---A two hours later---

Caiden looked at me in shock. I had just beat him and my brother like ten times. I’ve got to admit he has skill when it comes to this game. I was better, of course.

“How did you do that?” Caiden asked. I just shrugged. He turned to Aaron with mouth hanging open.

“Don’t look at me like that. I have no idea how she became so good at this game. She was sick that one time two years ago, and she was left all alone because dad had work, and we had school. She told me she was bored and tried out the game. That’s all I know, I swear.” He said raising his hands up in surrender. I could tell he was holding back a laugh. He put his hands down. Caiden still had his mouth hanging open. Aaron and I shared a look before we burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Caiden asked pouting a little.

“Your face was priceless!” I said laughing. The laughing finally died down a few minutes later.

“You are cruel twins.” He said with fake hurt in his voice.

“We know,” Aaron and I said simultaneously.

“That was creepy,” Caiden said.

“We know,” we said again.

“Okay, you two need to stop doing that,” he said.

“Okay,” we said together.

“Ugh!” Caiden groaned. Aaron and I laughed at his frustration.

“You two enjoyed this, don’t you?” he said.

“Yep!” We said together.

“Seriously! Stop that!” he whined. We just laughed.

“Okay, well, Caiden and I have to go. We have dates,” Aaron said.

“Do I want to know?” Aaron shook his head.

“Okay then, but if it’s anything serious, you have to tell me everything,” I told him with a wink. I turned around and headed upstairs to my room. I closed the door and turned on my laptop. I logged onto facebook and checked my notifications. Nothing. It’s not like I had much friends for that anyway. I was about to close it when I saw that I have one new friend request. I clicked on it and saw that it was Caiden himself. I quickly accepted it and closed the window. I closed the laptop and grabbed a book off my shelf and started to read. I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in!” I told the person as I closed the book and sat up. My dad peeked in and smiled. His smile didn’t reach his eyes, and I knew he was still sad about mom’s death four years ago. I smiled back at him.

“Hey Rose, how are you? How was your first day?” Dad asked.

“It was great. And I’m great,” I said trying not to remember seeing Luke again.

“Good, good. So, where’s Aaron?” he asked.

“He and Caiden have dates tonight.” I told him. He nodded with an understanding look on his face.

“I’ll let go back to whatever you were doing, and if Aaron ever gets a serious girlfriend, don’t scare them off. You do that a lot.” Dad said with a smile. I sighed.

“I’ll try,” I told him. He just laughed and left my room, closing the door behind him. I went back to my book, and before I knew it I was drifting off to sleep.

“Rose! Rose!” I blinked my eyes open and glared at the person shaking me.

“Did you have to shake me?” I told my brother. He just shrugged. I looked at the time and saw that it was 10:30 pm. Why did he wake me up in the middle of my beautiful slumber? I groaned as I got out of bed and stalked to Aaron’s room. He was just sitting on his bed, playing on his phone.

“Why’d you wake me up? Couldn’t it wait until morning?” I asked him.

“Nope. Anyway, didn’t you want to hear how my date went? Plus, you have some explaining to do,” He said. I sighed and followed him out to his room.

“So you explain first. What did that bastard want?” he asked angrily. So we sat down on the floor in front of his bed as I explained to him all that happened. I even explained the deal. When I finished, Aaron’s eyes were wide.

“The deal starts next week.” I explained to him.

“Do you really think that’s a good idea Rosie?” He asked concerned.

“What’s the big deal? Aaron, I promise not to let him hurt me. I will not let that happen again. I have definitely learned my lesson.” I told him leaning against the foot of his bed.

“I know I can’t get you to back out, because once you make a deal, you don’t back out. Just promise me you’ll be careful?” he said

“I promise.” I said.
