Carl's POV

When Dad woke up we started heading towards the city. It was slow since Dad had to stop and rest every once in a while from blood loss, and Sara couldn't put any weight on her injured foot. Same with Nicole, since she had sprained her ankle jumping from the tree to save Dad. Surprisingly I wasn't bothered by it really. Going slow didn't bug me. It was quite nice actually, walking slow with my family. At least we used to do that before the apocalypse.

Mom and me were the only ones who were okay, so we helped the rest of the family. I now considered Sara family because she had helped Nicole get here, and we had gone through a lot together. She's also been with our family for awhile and I don't know if her family is alive anymore. I don't feel like asking her because if I do and her parents are actually dead, it might make her life miserable. She's been through a lot and deserves a family who will take care of her. And I think she's spend lots of time with my family to consider us her second family.

Finally, we reach the edge of the forest. We start to look around for a good safe house. It takes us quite awhile but finally we find one, an old factory of some sort. There was a clean well of water in it. We settle down and drape blankets that we found on the ground. We use the rest to make a bed and we lay down for the night. While my mom stays as a guard through the night, the rest of us rest. At least for a little while.

I fall asleep almost immediately. I have nightmares all night and wake up after like three hours, they kept torturing me in my dreams. I finally decide to stand up and go get a drink of some water from the well to get a break from all the nightmares. I sit down and just think about random things keeping my mind off of things.

I see my mom head to the well and drink from it. I start to think that something doesn't feel good. Like something is not right, what's going on? There is something about this all that isn't right or is going to go very, very wrong.

What no one saw, no one heard was the small needle full of zombie venom fell into the water, and shattered on the bottom of the well.
