The hallway was filled with teenagers getting out of class, on the way to the next. Many were in pairs, laughing about something, either something the teacher said something that weird guy did. There was a blonde who had just opened her locker and slammed a few books in, obviously frustrated about something. up ahead to the right was the school store where you could buy anything from school supplies to the latest t-shirts. People were everywhere, running, shouting, screaming. The hordes of people were streaming through the doors and it felt like I was pushing against a current, which I could never fight against.
Curse being short. There's like a whole world above me I haven't seen yet.
Last time I saw Mike was only two days ago. I walked into the cafeteria, looking for the table I usually sit at, and spotted Mike sitting down with Tony and Jaime. I shuffled through the students clamped around, plopping into a chair at our table.
" 'Sup asshat," Mike greeted, and I shifted myself properly in my seat.
"Why the fuck are the people in our school, giants?" I asked, instead of greeting back.
"Why the fuck are you a midget?" Mike bantered, as Jaime chuckled in the background. I rolled my eyes and scoffed, pulling out a granola bar, and pulling open the wrapper.
"You still on all that healthy crap?" Jaime stuck out his tongue.
"I'll have you know that this healthy crap is beneficial, and not to mention, healthy."
Jaime and Mike groaned, "Blegh."
"So Mike, where's Vic?" Tony questioned.
I blinked cluelessly, continously nibbling at the granola bar in my hands.
"He'll be here any minute now, I saved a seat for him. He'll eat with us. You guys okay with that? - Wait, I don't care if you are or not," Mike remarked. "Please guys, be gentle. He's not the same as he used to portray himself to be in front of everyone. People have already been gossiping around about him, and he's anxious, all right?"
"Mags' probably anxious too," Tony nudged me.
"You still have a crush on him, huh?" Jaime winked. My eyes nearly bulged out of my eye sockets. "That was nearly three years ago!" I thundered in frustration, feeling the burn of my cheeks. "It didn't even last that long!"
Mike scoffed, "Four months until you had the courage to say hi."
"And then he rejected you," Jaime added. Tony raised his left leg and kicked Jaime out of his seat. Jaime shrieked, and then Mike kicked him as well."Guys, it's fine. That was back during freshman year, I'm just hoping he doesn't remember it..." I replied, and suddenly Mike raised his arm in the air as Jaime sat back down.
"Vic!" Mike called out, and waved his hand. I turned around towards the entrance of the cafeteria.
"Fuck," I muttered.
There he stood, Vic Fuentes, my best friend's brother. The same mystery I bumped into in the morning. He had grown out his chocolate brown hair that now came to his shoulders and bangs clipped to swipe over his forehead, resting over his eyebrow. He seemed to be wearing a hoodie over the white t-shirt I saw him wearing this morning and black skinny jeans. My eyes quickly looked to his feet and I saw beat up looking converse, he looked extremely anxious standing there, looking for Mike. Not only my eyes, but everyone's eyes stared at him. Everyone murmured.
"Is that Vic Fuentes?"
"No way, he's back!"
"What's with his hair?"
