"Mags!" Jaime sang in my ear. "Maggie!" He repeated. I looked up and went back to my book, tapping my pen against the desk. "Magnolia Graham!" He hissed sang, a fairly amusing sound.

"What?" I eventually asked. I was being quiet. I don't know why. Mr. Collins was far too interested in his girlfriend Calculus to pay us any attention.

"When's the period over?" He asked, twirling the blonde highlight that barely had any length around his finger.

"We've been here ten minutes." I sighed and he looked at me like I was stupid. "Forty minutes." I retorted.

"Ugh!" Jaime groaned loudly and very exaggeratedly.

"I'm bored, Maggie." He complained. I nodded and carried on reading my book. "Listen to me complain." He huffed.

Then he took the pen I was tapping with and snatched it away. Without breaking eye contact from me or even stopping the nasal whining that had started to emit from him, he threw the pen into the sea of badly dressed classmates, hitting Vic - Vic?! right in the back of the head. "Magnolia Graham!" Jaime exclaimed rather loudly just as Mike turned around in his seat, along with other students. It seemed as if Vic came in to deliver a letter from another teacher. He furrowed his eyebrows and took my pen and launched it forwards, hitting Mr. Collins. I widened my eyes at his amused expression. Mr. Collins picked up the pen from where it had bounced at his feet and gave it a dirty look. "Whose is this?" He asked the room. Nobody said anything. "Well?" he urged.

I sighed knowing Mr. Collins would repeat that question for the next thirty five minutes so I might as well admit.

I raised my hand, "It's my pen, but you see - "

"Wait outside for the remainder of the period." he snapped.

"What am I supposed to do for thirty five minutes?!" I exclaimed. "Out." he snapped. I sighed and got up. I grabbed my things and made my way to the front. I bent down in front of Vic and picked up my pen. I obviously didn't think this through, as the donkeys of the classroom whistles towards my ass.

I tried to walk away and out of the room with as much dignity I could muster. That apparently isn't a lot because I fell over Mike's table leg and went flying.
I heard laughter all around the room. With red cheeks I got to my feet and hurried out of the class. I wanted to scream, and possibly shave Jaime's hair off.

I walked outside the classroom, slouching down. I leant up against the wall and sighed dramatically. The door creaked open and much to my dismay it was Vickity-Victor Vic.

"Expecting someone else?" he asked lightly.
"No." I muttered.
"So you were expecting me?"
"No." I repeated, making him smile.

I ignored him and decided to sit down on the floor. But he copied me. He sat closer to me. I moved away. We were almost touching, only an elbow away. He looked at me and probably realized that my hair does in fact look like a bird nest. Then I poked him in the cheek, losing self-control.

"What are you doing?" he asked like I was insane.

"Sorry." I blushed and realized my finger was still lightly pressing his cheek. I quickly removed it and shuffled away from him.

"Why do you keep trying to hurt me?" Vic asked me quite seriously.

"I didn't throw the pen! It was Jaime!" I defended.
"Hmm..." he murmured in disbelief.
"And poking you just sort of happened, okay?"
"Okay." he shrugged.

"You have soft cheeks," I blurted out, soon then regretting what I just said, and mentally slapped myself.

He burst out in laughter, like he was entertained by me. I continued and began to rant at him.

"And you got me sent out! Not that I really care about being sent out but I'd rather not sit on this dirty floor! All I wanted was to enjoy this fucking book!" I held the book in the air. He grabbed my wrist, and pulled it down, eyeing the cover.

"Are you really reading To Kill A Mockingbird? Really? Why?"

"Yes!" I said rather proudly. He was laughing at me.

"Everyone I know read it for 8th grade English and never touched it again afterwards."

"Well," I scoffed. "I'm not everyone else, okay?"

"I figured," He replied, blowing a strand of hair out of his face.

"Um," I placed the book down. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"You're different," He said, rather seriously.

My heart started to pound. I was so anxious around him lately. I'm never like this. I didn't sign up for this! Why is this happening? What did he even mean? Did he mean it in a good way or a bad way? Jesus Christ.

I groaned, "Why are you still here? Shouldn't you be getting back to class?"

He shrugged, "I could care less. It's quite boring, honestly. I'd rather sit with you. You're entertaining." He chuckled.

I scoffed, "Well I think you should get back to class."
He scoffed back, "Well, I think you can't tell me what to do." He crossed his arms like a three-year old.

"Whatever," I dug in my bag, feeling quite hungry for once, and pulled out a pack of cookies.

"Whatever," He mocked me in a babyish tone.

I decided to ignore this too and started to eat and Vic stopped laughing to look at me like I was completely crazy again.

"Why are you eating cookies?" He asked.

"Why not? Aunt D made 'em." I explained. I felt the need to add the last bit. I don't know why. "Do you want one?" I felt the need to ask, hoping he'd say no.

"Thanks," Vic replied, taking four. Four! "Ah, I love Diana's baking." He winked.

"These are amazing!" he declared. I watched as he devoured them and took two more.

I sighed, reading my book, as Vic continued stealing my cookies over and over again.

After he finished eating it all, he dusted his hands and I gave him a death glare.

"So how are you?"

I narrowed my eyes. "Oh, gee thanks for asking, I'm quite pissed after you ate all my cookies, thank you."

He laughed, ugh. That's all he does, laugh at me. I was caught by surprise when the bell rang, and began to feel my chest swell.

"Walk with me to lunch, Graham," He told, not even asking. I glanced up at him and shrugged, stuffing my book in my bag. "I'll take that," He slung my bag around his shoulder and walked ahead. "Catch up, shorty!"

Geez, assertive

"Who are you calling shorty?!" I yelled, running as fast as my stubby legs could take me towards him.

I felt all these dumb butterflies exploding in my stomach. My heart beat so fast, I don't even know what's happening anymore. Every time I fucking look at Vic, my face turns red and my stomach gets all tied in a knot.

I really don't want to feel this way.
