Meanwhile, Meredith's friends realize they haven't seen her in a while. They start to look around only to come to the conclusion that maybe she went back to the hospital with a patient.

Cristina spots Dr Bailey and walks over to her. "Hey Bailey, did Meredith go back to the hospital with a patient?"

"Yang, does it look like I have the time to babysit Grey?" Bailey gives Cristina her classic stare.

"No ma'am." Cristina says and is about to walk away when Bailey speaks again.

"But I do remember the last few ambulances that left and she was not with any of them. I remember seeing O'Malley go back with one of the ambulances but I don't recall seeing Meredith going back."

"Okay thank you Dr Bailey." Cristina is starting to get a little worried about her person. She noticed that Meredith had seemed off today and possibly sick as well. But Meredith as usual just said she was fine and Cristina didn't push her.

Derek was just finishing up with an injured passenger when he saw Cristina talking with Karev and Stevens. "Stevens, I need you to go back to the hospital and monitor my patient for me." He sees the unsure look Stevens gives to the other two interns standing there. "What's going on? You three okay? Where's Meredith at?"

"That's the question of the hour, Shepherd. We can't find her anywhere. And I don't think she's gone back to the hospital." Yang says.

"Maybe she's helping a patient." Shepherd says.

Cristina waves her hand. "Yeah? You think so do you? Take a look at how many patients are left to help. Do you see her anywhere now?"

Derek realizes how nervous the interns are at not being able to find their friend. Remembering the events of this morning, Derek starts to worry himself. "Where could she be if she's not here or at the hospital?"

——————————————————————-

The little girl who practically stuck to Meredith's side since they met, escaped from the police officer when he had his back turned to deal with a frantic bystander. When he turned back around, the little girl had gone but at that point so many people had been missing, the little girl wasn't a priority.

The little girl had seen Meredith had the water edge so started to walk over there, hoping to relish in the same comfort the older adult provided just minutes before.

But, then, she watched as Meredith had started to look around.. And lean back on her feet. In doing so, she fell backwards, becoming another victim of the sea.

The little girl was sure she saw a glint of a smile from Meredith's smile as she fell..

"Hey, weren't you the little girl with the lady doctor? Doctor Grey?"

The little girl looked up and saw a dark haired man, he had the same sort of jacket on as Meredith had. Feeling safe around him, she nodded.

"Do you know where she went?"

The little girl nodded again.

"Where? No one knows where she is."

"She felled, into the water. She's happy though. I think she likes the water, she was smiling." The little girl took Derek's hand and took him over to where she just watched Meredith fall in.

Derek's face turned pale when he realized the reality of what the little girl just said. He rushes over to the water and quickly climbs down the stairs into the water. He searches in the water for Meredith and brushes past her leg.

He quickly grabs her and swims to the surface and over to the stairs and climbs out while carrying her. Meredith's head was lolled to the side and her skin was completely blue. He feels for a pulse and finds nothing.

He runs over to the ambulance and past all of her friends who are standing there in shock.

"I need help! She doesn't have a pulse! She's not breathing! You need to help! Take us to Seattle Grace NOW!" He tells the paramedic who quickly grabs the gurney and Derek places her on it.

The paramedic gets Meredith into the ambulance and Derek gets in.

"Derek! What happened!!" Cristina yells.

"Not now Cristina!" He yells as he's doing cpr on Meredith. The paramedic closes the door and the sirens turn on as they race to Seattle Grace Hospital.
