the soldier

chapter 1

"Hey! It's me the girl that is in the capital and being a soldier for the president so my sister doesn't have to get scared" While she was on duty she saw kids running around playing and looking healthy and having a lot of food while back at home everyone is starving to death. Every year they bring new kids between 11-18  to train and be a soldier and work in the capital for the president. She took her younger sister's spot when she was 12 and her sister was 11.  "I've been in the couple for 2 years so I'm 14 and I miss home every day but I want to protect my family. I have heard from them since I left but I'm going back to my district and picking 2 girls and 2 boys so train work where I am."  She works in two different places and If there ever comes a rebellion she will be in the front line killing people and she works in the president's house.  

The younger kids have a good life and don't know why we send kids off to work for the capital. But the 19 and plus know why but they don't the kids that are still in the frame of age because they don want the kids to be scared at all. I enjoy being in the capital because I get fed and I didn't go hungry. I had showers but I felt bad when I think about everyone at home. I've changed when I came here.  The kids are different when they get here and go back home. They won't be the same after training. But this is our life and we goy used to sending kids to the reaping of getting picked. It came normal to us. But the families won't be same after their children gets picked.  When I walked by the conference rooms I hear conversations that I'm supposed to hear at all. "Soldier get in here now." I walked in and stood there because I don't know what he is going to say to me. " Why were you walking around when you are on duty?" I stood there and I didn't know what to say to him at all. "Mr. President I'm off duty so I was heading to my apartment."  

Ever since I last saw my family I don't know what's been going.  I hears called from the districts and she overheard that the kids in the capital that works here might have to go back home because they are going to start the first annual games when you have to go in and kill innocent people and hope you survive. "Excuse me soldier you aren't supposed to be standing there. " The president usually tells us to not stand in places where that's not a signed spot to stand.  It's hard to tell what he wants but he can be easy but sis hard when he tries to send the kid soldiers home so we can get killed by other children.  i was about to walk on the subway but when I saw my district leader coming out he grabbed me so hard that it left a bruised and we walked to the train and we were heading home. "Jen I'm sorry but he wants to do the games because it's easier to kill and trades goods from the districts and the capital but I don't know what  will happen." I was in complete shock when that happened
