The day is finally here for the reaping of the hunger games. I didn't see the jay last night because his parents told me I couldn't stay. I was nervous and scared and I helped my mom get ready and get prepared and I also helped my sister get ready for today. I was hopeful that she wouldn't get picked at all. I looked at Jay's family and they looked so nervous. I went up to his parents. "They are going to do great I promise," I assured them with a smile on my face. They hugged me and I went back up to my room and for ready so I wouldn't be late

I put my hair in a nice tight french braid and cured the ned of my hair and put on a nice dress that I had a for a year or two but my mom made by hand when I came home.  I want my district to be proud of whoever is picked. I walked down and saw them waiting for me and I put my boots on and I heard the horn and I walked with the children and I knew everyone was nervous. I didn't want to show them that I was scared or nervous

I looked at my mom and dad and Jay's parents and we walked to the building and they separated us from our parents and we were separated by females and males and youngest to oldest. I didn't see my sister anywhere but I could see Jay's younger brothers and I knew he was watching it live from the medical wing. We waited for a while for the board that makes rules for us to come out. It took a while but the door finally opened with them and the door closed. We all stood there scared and didn't know what to do. Then we saw our governor and Chloe.

We wait until chloe came up and tapped the microphone. "Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the first annual hunger games and we are proud to present to tributes for this district and I know they are going to serve us well."  I looked around and saw kids with scared faces and I didn't know what to expect for her and any of this at all. I saw her smiling then she frowned. I knew she was uncomfortable doing this.  Then she started speaking again. "We have a little message from our president."

She turned around and pointed to the screens and we tried to look at the screens but I couldn't see anything because of the sun. "Hello everyone and I wanted to say congratulations to the tributes whoever is getting picked and I'm proud to announce the first annual hunger games. We are looking forward to seeing whoever is getting picked today and we will be welcoming you to the capital. Well, good luck see you soon tributes." He literally signed off so quickly and I didn't even see the picture at all.

I could care less about the big screens around the justice buildings  I wanted my sister and everyone safe. I could care less about myself.  I just hope I get picked because I want these girls not to die at all.  We all waited for chole to stand back up and the message wasn't really encouraging to us at all. She got back up to the microphone. "Well, now it's the time to pick a male and female tribute now." She frowned as she said that and she walked over to the females' box of names and I was scared of my life.

We all watched her open the name card with the name and she looked up at the cowed and smiled. "We have Jen Collins." I looked up and they said my name and I was shocked and I looked at my parents and they gave me a look that they are ok and I should go up there and everyone looked for me and found me and the guards took my hand and walked me up there to the stairs
