Chapter Ten.

-Third Person P.O.V-

No Happy Thoughts.

------------------------------------------------*-*-*-----------------------------------

The forest quivered and shrunk back as their king stormed towards the secret passage he hadn't visited in longer time than he dared remember. Above his head of golden locks, past the tallest limbs of the Neverland trees, thunder rolled through the billowing dark clouds brought by the mood of the ruling master in search of his son. When his emerald orbs rested upon the freshly pulled root that opened the passage, lightning flashed as his anger did just as ferosiously.

After ripping the root from the ground, the small confining boulder jumped out of the way; the man crawled through. He had to crouch much further down since the last time he had visited the cavern, but it had the same musky, earthen aroma he always referred to as the scent of home. When he reached the last corner to turn, he paused, and steadied his breathing. Supposedly, according to the children, his only offspring was just ahead of him, kissing a creature so foul, it made him see red.

Clenching his fists, jaw tense with exertion, he listened with closed eyes. Deciphering the sound of crashing water from human sound was no easy task, but the Great Pan had not a single trouble. He let the tinkering melody of liquid against liquid, stone against stone, crash around his ears, waiting for an out of place tune. After ten seconds, his lids flew open, and he gnashed his teeth in hate.

Neither stone, nor water, giggles.

But that's exactly what he heard.

He stepped out from behind the last turn of the tunnel, black drowning out any boyish twinkle in his eyes.

“Samuel Pan,” Peter Pan's deep, growling voice was threateningly loud as it bounced off the surrounding walls. His son gasped in sync with his partner, heads whipping around in surprise. The younger boy's eyes widened, and he scampered up hurriedly from where he had been straddling the mermaid, pulling the top half of his green outfit back on over his head.

The mermaid choked on another gasp as she realised she was seeing the King of Neverland for the first time, and rushed to cover up her chest with her hair, which was presently completely exposed in the most indecent of ways. The couple was flushed scarlett from being caught in such an embarrassing situation, both still panting heavily from their previous activities that were about to happen.

“Dad!” Sammy Pan squeaked nervously, the corners of his lips trembling from trying to urge on an easy going smile, and gave a forced laugh “What're you doing here?”

The man slowly cocked his head to the right. The cavern was still, silent in tension.

“This-,” he spat, taking slow, measured steps towards his boy, “this is who you were talking about? A mermaid? Out of all the creatures on Neverland, you chose that?” Peter scoffed cruelly, and kicked mud at the mermaid, who hissed, and flinched back.

“Don't!” Sammy stepped in line between her and his father, “She's not like you think, Dad, please-”

“No!” Peter's voice rumbled like the thunder outside, and they other two both winced, “You were dishonest to me, Sam. You lied! I gave you my trust, and you used it falsely. I've told you countless times before to stay away from mermaids, and you disobey me. What else have you done?” Sammy searched his head for anything to say, but his mind was reeling with blankness.

“Sammy...” the mermaid whimpered, and reached out a hand towards him. Like a flash of light, Peter unsheathed his sword, yanked his son behind him, and placed the tip of his blade against the nape of her neck, which, to his appalling disgust, was red with grazed teeth marks.
