The second trimester for me was all I had read about, and more. The morning sickness had disappeared, I was thrown into a whirlwind of energy, constantly cleaning and going on long walks. The sun was my friend and the beach my place of peace. The sound of water and the feeling of sand hugging my toes was blissful.
With the second trimester, came the first flutterings, little feet like butterflies in my tummy. Beach trips were a weekly event, I loved swimming and although I had once feared deep waters, the new life inside me brought me confidence and fearlessness that I had never experienced.
I craved many things, including the combination of strawberry milk and vinegar chips. On nights I binged sweets, but during afternoons I craved the savory things, like barbecue chicken and pot roast.
I was constantly anxious on nights alone, but some nights were filled with laughter and comfort when my brother (best friend, but I consider him a brother) would come over and watch movies with me, or when my cousin in law would come over and video game while I binge watched Sister Sister and scarfed down sugar drenched popcorn.
Those nights hold so many great memories, and I'm truly grateful for those who were there for me and all the love and support they gave me in that time.
